Istanbul Borek Kebab is a family-owned Turkish restaurant situated at the corner of Anderson Ave. and Lawton Ave. in Cliffside Park. I have been a regular customer for over 10 years, enjoying their food from their previous smaller location just as much as I do now at their larger, newer establishment. The dishes are always fresh and flavorful, prepared daily on-site. The bread and pastries are made from scratch right there in the restaurant. I never miss trying the Istanbul Borek meat pie, regardless of what other options I select from the menu. On a chilly day, their homemade soups are a must-try and absolutely delicious. Great Turkish patisserie with excellent service and ambiance. They offer a wide variety of options, and everything we tried was delicious. My only minor critique is that the charge for the Turkish tea served with the breakfast package doesn't quite capture the true Turkish breakfast experience, but the tea itself was quite tasty. Additionally, they have some delightful Turkish sweets like baklava and some appealing birthday cake options that I didn't try, but they looked fantastic. Enjoy your meal!
I paid $17 for the worst kebab I've ever had, yet I still decided to give this place another try. I have plenty to say about this restaurant and its owner, but I’ll keep it simple: STAY AWAY! I just spent $85 on two wraps that were cold and flavorless, along with an order of lahmacun. Don't bring anyone here to experience Turkish food; they'll only end up laughing at you. Choose any other place instead—you’ll thank yourself later.
Don’t come here! Place was completely empty. Food was old and the lamb chops tasted rotten and the rice was cold. Nothing was fresh. My mom got food poisoning and the waitress was rude.
