We attended the Bistro night at The Ivy House, the menu had a choice for starters, main and dessert. They staff were diligent when as one of party has crab and gluten problems, checked and brought out gluten free bread. An enjoyable evening with delicious wine testers from Mark Balham of Morris’s and Balham. The food was very good even though the seafood stew was a bit boney! The wrapped chicken was really enjoyed as were the starters and puddings. Would definitely recommend one of their ‘special’ nights the ambience, staff and food were all very good.

Went in for afternoon tea and scones. This is one of those 'Wait to be seated ' places and the reception wasn 't always staffed.Regularly people were stood there waiting. System for getting people sat down and taking orders appearred a bit haphazard (we were sat by the entrance and watching) Drinks and scones were nice when they arrived but need to polish up on service/meet and greet. One couple were ignored by a staff member apparently chatting to friends

Ideal position for a stop-off if journeying on the A 35. Large car park with plenty of seating. A good fish and chips plus a selection of desserts is an idea before continuing your journey. Situated on Bridport Island so easy to rejoin the traffic flow

This cafe could be very nice, but the waitresses are miserable and don't make eye contact, the food takes ages to come and the place is soulless. We travel this way often, so next time, we shall visit the Potting Shed at Poundbury.
