We had a terrible experience at Jade Plus (Near Tennis Court) Cairns today, (22 March 2015). As they have a lunch special we decided to try, we were a regular customer up until today, normally we go for dinner. We encouraged another family to come and try Jade Plus with us. After the swimming we decided to take the kids for lunch there, When we arrived there it was around 11:45 am and we have 2 kids with us, one from each family and at the time there were only 3 tables which had patrons. The kids with us were only 3& 5 yrs old. We had placed our order by 12:00 pm, believing the food would be served on time and maximum we had waited in any restaurant is around 20-30 minutes for kids to be ser...
Service was VERY slow! We got there at 6:30 didn't get served until 7 and we didn't receive our food until 8! When our food finally came out they informed us that they didn't have one of our orders due to no stock, yet they couldn't tell us during the hour long wait!!.. They are more focused on take-away then customers coming in for dinner. The only plus was the food was tasty but that doesn't make up for all the negatives!
Ordered pork and cashew nut, and a special fried rice for takeaway. The person who took my order was efficient and the food didn't take very long even though I hadn't called ahead. The stir fry was really bland and in terms of vegetables it was mostly onion. I picked at it and ended up just eating the fried rice. The fried rice was edible, but tasted strangely buttery. I won't be trying anything else on the menu.
This is a well hidden Cairns secret, located on the first floor at the Cairns Tennis Centre. If you did not know this restaurant was there you wouldn't even be able to find it. Great selection of excellent Chinese food. The Saturday, Sunday Yum Cha is great. Well priced not too fancy. When you see 80% of the restaurant patronized by local Chinese community you know it must be good.

The manager was friendly and welcoming, and the service was excellent. While the duck was delicious, the seafood dish had a slightly fishy taste, indicating it may not have been very fresh. The presence of large blow flies was also off-putting. I would consider returning to the restaurant, but would avoid ordering the seafood dish.
Slow service,bland uninteresting food.I had Singapore Noodles which was what all that it was, noodles! No flavour.Had to get up and ask where soy sauce and salt and pepper was to try to perk it up! Not good value for $18.Will not be going back ever.
We were visting the tennis centre and ate upstairs where the restaurant overlooked all the courts. The facility is excellent and service is great. The food is good considering we are from San Francisco.
We ate here tonight, wow what a lovely meal! Nicest Chinese dinner in ages. Generous serves & very tasty. Great attentive service too from a young man waiting in our table. Highly recommended.

This time was a vast improvement from my previous visit. Everything was excellent, including the butter chicken, palak paneer, and lamb dish (although I can't remember the exact name).
This is the worst sweet and sour chicken and egg fried rice I have ever eaten! The sweet and sour sauce was like red water and the chicken was extremely tough.
