Excellent food and opportunities for music by the side of the DordogneThese gardens were originally created by Josephine Baker to provide a playground for the children she adopted and who lived in the Chateau des Milandes on the hill above. We have eaten lunch and dinner at this establishment many times over the years.Owners have changed, but the location is superb - you can have lunch (or dinner) sitting under trees alongside the Dordogne river.The new owners this year have continued the traditioin of an excellent value 3 course lunch (12.50 euros) and have added a new offer oif one main course, one drink and access to the lovely swimming pool and also the crazy golf course for 14.50 euros per person.This really is a superb location - we had lunch here in mid june 2013 and the new chef provided`us with a very good confit de canard lunch - our first this year. With a 50 cl carafe of wine and coffee this came to 40 euros - good...
Went for family lunch. Spectacular place and lovely atmosphere. Perfect for a coke Ordered lunch. Hamburgers, duck breast and kids menus. Frankly very badly cooked burgers. All was burned. The Bread, the duck and the optaties fried in burned oil. Staff was underpowered and one waitress quite unfriendly. Sat waiting for desert for app 30 minutes until i was fed up and went to pay with the patron. He apologized for the food.Very friendly patron so i hope he can change the course of this place in little dordogne paradise!

This beautiful Chateau gives you a view of the fantastic Josephine Baker's life. The walk through the rooms not only shows her beautiful costumes, but also shows many candid photographs of her private and public life. It is very tastefully done.As a bonus there is a bird show of raptours including lovely owls and falcons. Eventhough the commentary is in French, it is still facinating.Highly recommended.
The gardens were originally designed at the beginning of the XX century by Jules Vacherot. In 2016 the gardens were extensively restored, including wonderful water courses copied from 1909 drawings. It's a lovely tranquil garden to wander round.More than 70 birds of prey reside at the castle and we were able watch some of the falconers displaying the prowess of these birds.
Les jardins ont été initialement conçus par Jules Vacherot au début du XXe siècle. En 2016, les jardins ont été entièrement restaurés, y compris de magnifiques cours d'eau issus de dessins de 1909. C'est un beau jardin tranquille où se promener. 70 rapaces vivent dans le château et nous avons pu observer certains des faucons qui ont montré la prédominance de ces oiseaux.
Après la visite de ce magnifique Château et de ses superbes jardins qui appartenaient autrefois à Josephine Baker, quelle belle façon de terminer notre visite avec un excellent déjeuner ici.

My hot cheese with nuts salad was good and satisfying. My husband was pleased with the croque Monsieur The ambiance was nice.
