After a steady uphill walk from the centre of Neustift on a well marked way, which brought us out on to a large open meadow, we found a very welcome cold drink and respite from a hot day. The view from the Jausenstation was amazing; being a panorama of the entire length and breadth of the Stubai, from glaciers at one end to the Brenner at the other. Whilst drinking our chilled beer we yielded fo temptation when seeing plates of home cooked apricot torte and cream passing before us. Still warm from the oven with a light sponge and tangy apricots it was a real treat. After a tough day's walking in Austria,its always nice to stumble across a hut for refreshments but this one surpassed my expectations! We had a generous slice of homemade chocolate nut cake which was so tasty and moist, it was excellent quality. My husband had a Germ Knodel ,an Austrian desert and this was the best one we had both ever tasted. What a shame we are leaving tomorrow as the lady told us they are well known for their Vien Schnitzel and I can believe it!
