Perhaps the best restaurant in Orihuela, Bar Joaquin is worth a visit, whether it be for a menú del día for lunch or a couple of tapas for dinner. I 've been here for both on multiple occasions, and everything has always been delicious. One of my menú favorites are the boquerones, which I highly recommend if you like small fish. Not to be confused with what Americans think of when we think of an anchovy, they are the European version of such, and quite different. Most recently, I ordered them with a bowl of gazpacho to start, which was freshly made in-house! That 's hard to beat.
