Update: After more thought and a mysterious phone call my wife received related to this review, I 'm lowering the number of stars from 2 to 1. Poor service and small portions of okay food are why I 've given Joey 's only 2 stars. I 'd driven past Joey 's for many years and had always been curious about this tiny renovated old home looking establishment. There were very few reviews online to be found for Joey 's, which made me even more curious. I finally made it a point to stop in and give them a try. I was greeted and seated promptly, but that 's where service ends in this story. Mostly, I was ignored throughout my entire meal while I observed other tables receiving my server 's attention....
Made reservations for myself, other half and his family for Fathers Day. Called and made reservations Saturday evening. Arrived at 6, we took about 10 minutes to decide on what to order..place was pretty empty. Others started to come in and get their orders taken, they were served their appetizers and salads before we did....we got our salads around 7pm...then ever so slowly did our food arrive. Two warm rare steaks ordered, both overcooked. One shrimp dish came out like mush..only the swordfish came out moist as stated. All the potatoes and veggies arrived cold with the food. 3 of 4 people didnt check on #4) were sick after dinner....Service was unacceptably slow for the place being pretty...
First time coming here and just as the previous review have put it, it wasn 't bad, but it wasn 't great . Went there with my friend craving for lobsters and the only lobster the have was 2 1/2 Ibs at $46.00. Because I was craving and committed to getting lobsters I decided to splurge and so did my friend. Unfortunately, for a Friday night there was only one lobster left, so my friend decided on sirloin instead. Our entree came with a salad and a choice of rice, baked potatoes or linguine. My friend said that her sirloin was delicious but I wasn 't too impress with my lobster. It appears old and not very tasteful. Service was slow and not very personable. Bad experience at this place and not my first. Being in New Milford for many years I pass this place 50 times a week. This place is pricey, atmosphere is quiet and the service leaves you feeling like your mother is mad at you. Oh and don't bother with the wine by the glass. It is literally a shot of wine. The glass is mostly empty. My wife and I were surprised it was $8 a glass. The food...for a seafood place, the crab seems like it's from a wholesaler. It is a bit fish y smelling, tastless and full of shells. Ended up sending it back got the chicken which was decent. Lastly, They would not honor a gift certificate previously purchased online that had no expiration date as it was a GIFT CERT...

The service was somewhat slow and not particularly friendly, and our water glasses were constantly empty. The bread and salad were fine, but certainly didn't match the price of the entrees. If everything had been priced around $15.95, it would have been a decent meal! The food was tasty enough, but it’s hard to mess up a simple dish. The ambiance was okay, although the random green Christmas lights felt a bit cheap. Perhaps if we had visited later in the evening, we wouldn’t have noticed how tacky they looked. While everyone enjoyed the taste of the food and nothing was out of the ordinary, I just felt there was a lack of creativity and uniqueness for the price.
The food here is just average—safe enough that you won't get sick, but nothing special. The portions are extremely small considering the high prices. Don’t be surprised if they run out of lobster, crab, and clams early on a Saturday night. It seems like business is lacking, which might explain the small serving sizes. Most of the other diners appeared to be older patrons who have likely been coming here for years, back when the food was much better. Honestly, you'd have to be a bit out of touch to consider this place good. This was my first and last visit; I won’t be returning.
Returning to Joeys after a long hiatus we renewed our original impression, only more so. The service was prompt and courteous, the clams were delicious , the salad was tasty and fresh. The swordfish was perfect, as was the stuffed shrimp. The atmosphere was quiet and relaxing. We had no room for desert.The food was all good, and pricing appropriate. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal here again and would rate it four stars.
Been coming to Joey's for thirty years. Consistently excellent food served in a rustic, homey saltbox house. We love Joey's! Some faves: Smoked Trout Appetizer Lobster Bisque Beer Batter Shrimp Linguini Bolognese Linguini with Sauteed Crab Meat Is your mouth watering? It should be. Go there and enjoy!

What truly matters is the food. The steamed clams were incredibly fresh, and the broth was outstanding. The sole with crabmeat was cooked to perfection. As for the price and ambience, it was cozy, though it felt a bit too dark.
