Josephine's Soul Food

I must admit that it takes me forever to try some Mexican, Chinese and Soul Food places. Because they can be met or miss in many places and I'm pretty special. It took a long time to get my ass to Josephine. I'm ashamed of being the name of my grandmother. I could finally call in one order. The 20-minute waiting period was very reasonable and the place is easy to find. It is a pretty little place that is like a visit to your grandma for a home kitchen. The retro tables and chairs are perfect. There are a few places to sit, but I can imagine that most want to eat this jummyness while smuggling at home. My first time I have a variety of entrees. I tried the fried catfish, ribs, greens, potato salad, sweet potatoes and green beans. Everything was cooked for perfection. No soggy corbread or overcooked green. The catfish was perfectly crispy and flocky and the ribs were tender and tasted with tasteful BBQ sauce. The ducks are plentiful. I've been here a hundred times since. My friends and family love it. I wish they had some smaller entrees for days if I have a lighter appetite. Sometimes I only share a duck with another lol. I highly recommend it.

I was traveling from Detroit to New York tired of Detroit over price Soulful I googled souls Josephines restaurant I told her I had to get my wife to New York for a Travel nurse position I tried four Different meals oxtails catfish fried chicken barbecue ribs everything I mean everything was great even the lemon pound cake the greens were melt in your mouth good for a flavor on point ribs with the tips on top great catfish great fried chicken great I will actually take a trip from Detroit just to purchase food from this cool restaurant Soulfood spot The staff was so friendly so courteous thank you thank you thank you I love great cooking I wish I was a family member so I can come over for Thanksgiving or holidays I will let the world know If you’re passing through Toledo Ohio and craving some good southern cooking please check out Josephines

Amazing, real soul food. Hands down the best roasted chicken I have ever eaten (season is fabulous), could also be the best Mac cheese, at least top 2, greens are on point too. Definitely try this point out, was only my second time there (1st in 3 years), but still is delicious.... 5 stars are not enough for Josephine's Soul Food. Love it
