Bar Casa Julio, a small casual eatery on the central square, was busy on a Monday evening when many other restaurants are closed. We had a reservation for 9 p.m. When we arrived our table was waiting and all the other tables were full. The dining room is a small space next the bar with a large photo of the sea on the opposite wall. There are a few more tables on the front porch. The menu offers a few specials including a fish of the day, a list of shellfish and a few other fish and some meat dishes as well as salads, starters and boards of cheese or charcuterie. Ordered monk fish from menu. Price 22 euros. Waiter asked where we were from. We said U.K. Scotland. He then proceeded to talk to us in very fast Spanish which we said we didn’t understand. Fish with a few potatoes , some lettuce and two slices of tomato were produced. When we asked for bill, the charge for the fish was 32 euros each rather than the 22 which would have been rather expensive in any case. When we questioned the bill, three members of staff got quite aggressive and while we offered to settle up based on a price of 22 euros per head for the main course we were threatened with the police. La verdad que entramos porque esa noche (Puente Diciembre) no había ningun restaurante abierto en todo Cudillero. La verdad que parece mentira que un pueblo tan turístico, la mayoría de los restaurantes esos días no den cenas, porque cierran. Al entrar, la sensación no fue muy acogedora. El dueño, bastante serío y poco simpatico. Cenamos sin mas, la comida normal. Da pena que un sitio como Cudillero, no tenga mas oferta que esa y que un lugar tan bonito y un local tan céntrico y ubicado en un lugar tan ídilico, no se esfuerzen en sonreir un poco más. Los clientes lo agradeceríamos y estoy segura que ellos también.
This place calls itself a restaurant but serves a beach bar food. Fried pieces of seafood served without any sides on small rectangular plates. The service is lousy and the staff does not bother to give any explanations on what food is available or if there are specials. Salads came without any dressing in them and small plastic cans of oil and vinegar the waiter thrown on the table like for dogs. When they brought me a meal that did not look good and I did not want to eat it the staff told me I have to pay for that regardless. There is no concept of a decent service there.

Excursión de un día a Cudillero. Agradable almuerzo a base de pescado y Albarino, en compañía de mi madre. Tuvimos suerte porque no habíamos reservado pero logramos encontrar una mesa para dos afuera en un día soleado.
Nos dejamos recomendar por el camarero y sin duda de 10! Platos buenísimo y un sabor espectacular. Sin duda para rebañar la cazuela. Merece la pena, buen producto y atención de 10!
Como siempre, espectacular, nunca fallan! Amables, atentos y honestos, si pides mucha comida te lo dicen frente otros que a pesar de saberlo te dejan seguir.
