I genuinely want to enjoy this restaurant, but as another reviewer pointed out, the portion sizes are quite small for the price. I ordered takeout, and the eel roll cost $11.95, but it was tiny with only small pieces of eel. I also got two salmon rolls at $6.95 each, and again, they were pretty small. I've had similar sushi at many places in Houston, and I was really surprised by how little you get for the price here, especially since it's not a fancy establishment. The taste is okay, but I have to give it 1 star for value.
This was our first time ordering from Kaishi Asian Bistro, and we got our food to-go. The salmon pieces in my daughter's Philly rolls were very small, and some rolls were missing both salmon and avocado. Additionally, the salmon was a pale pink and seemed to be of poor quality, especially for the price. I’m frustrated that we paid $58 for this meal—it definitely wasn’t worth it. When I tried to call to address the issue, the man who answered the phone couldn’t understand me.
I’ve tried sushi at many spots, but Kaishi Asian Bistro has quickly become my favorite. I visit often because the menu offers great variety and quality. The gentleman at the counter is always polite and happy to engage in friendly conversation—I appreciate that, as I’m not a fan of ordering food and then sitting in uncomfortable silence. I would definitely recommend Kaishi Asian Bistro 10 out of 10 times.
I’ve had sushi in both the West and East Coasts, but the sushi here is incredibly fresh. Houston is truly competing with New York and California. It’s rapidly becoming a new hotspot for authentic Asian culture and delicious food.

The cheese rolls are remarkable and clearly made with care. They offer more than just your typical cream cheese rolls. They complement the complimentary grilled jalapeños perfectly. The service is also outstanding.
Sit down restaurant quality food in a food court with much larger than expected portions and friendly service. 10/10
I ordered 10 pieces of sushi, and only about 4 were decent. I wouldn’t recommend wasting your time at this place!
