Really bad quality and quite flavourless! They shouldn't be charging these prices for what it is. Massive rip off!The eggplant Miso was simply a Miso sachet smeared onto 2 small slices of eggplant. While the Pork Belly was nothing special. Crumbed and fried. The Special rice with 'Pork Belly' had no flavour and definitely had no Pork belly in it. The Onominyaki wasn't anything to rave about..the rubbery thin sliced meat tasted like it was straight from the freezer. When asked why the meat doesnt taste like Wagu beef, he answered "the sauce is so strong it kills the taste of the beef" ...Whaaaat? One of the staff was SO rude , full of attitude.Go to Kyushu, up the road, if you want to taste r...

Walked in one night on Thursday for dinner with a baby. They cater well for kids with high chair and plastic cutleries available.Must try their okonomiyaki and buckwheat soba noodle which is apparently made in house. It is very delicious. It is not gluten free even though it is made of buckwheat.Be warned that 1 bowl of rice cost $5!! We made that mistake and ended up with a big bill because of rice! Do order the okonomiyaki early as it takes a while for it to cook! We were full by the time we waited for it to come and had to pack it home.Overall very authentic Japanese restaurant with authentic flavours. You can be assured that the chefs are Japanese too!!
I love Okonomiyaki. I was on a train in Tokyo and nearing Shinbashi Station so thought I'd search for a good okonomiyaki restaurant. 'okonomiyaki shinbashi' was my search string. First result Jugemu Shinbashi. Best okonomiyaki around. Only problem is that I was currently 7,500Km away from it (it's about 2km from my home in Sydney). But I digress. Since returning I have been a few times. Good okonomiyaki but I was surprised that it was suggested there was a 20 minute wait. I've had okonomiyaki from a street vendor outside Yoyogi Park, Harajuku and it was cooked in 2 minutes. Next time I went I was told 40 minute wait. But it was worth it. Lovely okonomiyaki.
This is two restaurants in one: a teppanyaki grill and a noodle (soba mostly) house. Two kitchens but you can order from either or both. The restaurant has been here for some years - the Shimbashi noodle half even longer.Everything is done with integrity and with few concessions to what customers have learnt to expect in a Japanese restaurant outside Japan. (That's a compliment) No California roll on the menu.I always find it hard to go past the soba which i learned to love in Japan but I'd trust anything on the menu. Réservez une table maintenant
I've been here a few times now, both with family and friends. The time before last we dined here with friends and sat at the counter by the teppanyaki hotplate. We ordered a few dishes to share and had a few beers. It was good. Last time it was just the kids and I. I ordered a small sashimi platter, two kid-sized okonomiyaki, an okonomiyaki for me and a beer. The bill came to $90. Add a tip to that and it was $100. It felt a bit steep for what we had. Nevertheless, I'll probably return as I do like the food.
I usually look forward to coming to Shimbashi but our most recent trip was not as hospitable as usual! Love coming here and sitting in the tatami/traditional section for the true, authentic Japanese vibe. When we arrived this section was almost vacant but we were told that children had just dined here and it was very dirty and had to be cleaned. Ew! Anyhow, was stuck in the corner, behind the screen and they made no effort to move us. Food was delicious: gyoza, calamari, sushi and soba.
Located over 2 shop fronts . Can be very busy though we manage to get a table with high chair for baby. Very good service and child friendly . Duck soba is very nice Teppanyaki Wagyu beef is good Okonomiyaki took long time to be delivered but taste great Pork Tonkatsu was too oily Egg plant taste good too We ordered 5 bowls of white rice which cost $5 per bowl - a bit too expensive just for the white rice . Otherwise every other a la carte dish is about $20 per dish
Coming to this place we always have the classic of soba and okonomiyaki however , this weekend we tried something else. The bento we had was good but the katsu was rather disappointing. I was surprised though with the expectation that it would be fantastic like their signature soba and okonomiyaki but I have learnt my lesson not to venture out from its signature. The concept of the restaurant is fantastic as it combines the best of two speciality restaurants. You can therefore order the best soba combined with the best teppanyaki. The wine list is good too and they serve excellent Orion beer from Okinawa. The cooking however was a bit slow and it took a long time for the teppanyaki to arrive.

We also order the basic bento box with teriyaki wagyu beef, vegitarian bento box and a curry soba. All dishes were good. We will be back when we are in the area.
