Kampong Boy is a family run Restaurant serving Malaysian Cuisine. The Restaurant greets you with a relaxed ambient, with a nice light hearted background music and a simplistic decor with hints of traditional Malaysian Culture. The restaurant has been there for years so we thought we'd revisit and have a light lunch... classic nasi lemak and Ipoh Noodle Soup with KL BBQ Pork. My wife is Malaysian and I enjoy the cuisine. Both of us left disappointed with the offering.. the nasi lemak had small chips of ikan bilis... not the dried fish but chips off the fish... the sambal was little and of poor quality/flavour too... basically the only thing I can recommend was the half egg. I picked up satay sticks and peanut sauce with cucumber from here take away. Six sticks which turned out on opening the bag to be less meat than you'd find on a skinny chicken wing, truly teeny tiny little bits that didn't cover...even half the skewer, with a tiny pot of the blandest most tasteless peanut sauce, in fact it was actually awful, and a tiny pot of about tiny pieces of cucumber with red onion. Eleven dollars something. Really? I'd say they must have collected around per cent profit from that and I'm feeling quite angry at that kind of treatment as a paying customer. That was rubbish, I didn't think you could even cut chicken pieces that microscopic. Mean spirited. Wish I'd taken...
Chinese food offering pretending to be Malaysian cuisine. Assam fish had not a hint of assam and coconut milk is used instead. All plates/ bowls cutlery are disposable. Horrible single use cutlery plates that is not necessary. When we asked for tap water, we were told due to COVID water must now be purchased. Don't ever visit this place. Not authentic food and not a care for the environment. Portions are small with a steep price.

Visited the eatery last Friday. The Fried Sea Food Hor Fun' looked ok on serving but only had three medium sized prawns(without any natural sweetness) and a few very thin slices of fish cake on top for was a bit pricey. The Satay Chicken...meat was well marinated but the dipping sauce was mere blend thin curry gravy. Disappointed with the dishes. Nothing close to the quality at Mamak restaurant.
At a quiet corner in Hurstville I suddenly discovered Kampong Boy restaurant by chance. They offer lunch and dinner with a typical Malaysian taste. Had a lovely Hainese chicken rice which comes with soup and chillie/soy sauce condiment. I also ordered a typical Chinese dessert...with snow fungus, goji berries and longan. Great and good value! Worth visiting and will make a second trip.
We absolutely love this place. Hurstville is more common for Chinese/Hong Kong food so it was a surprise to find this hidden gem. They have great laksa, kankong (water spinach), chicken curry, nasi goreng, I don't think you can go wrong with any of the...food here. Service is always prompt and friendly. Prices are super reasonable.
Maybe I was hungry but I liked the food here. Char Kuey teow was nice and the satay chicken was nicely marinated with a nice peanut sauce. Everything though is in take away containers though eating in and it was a little pricey for the portion size. Also to eat indoors it a small venue

Such a beautiful friendly restaurant. The staff are lovely and the food is as good as any we had in Malaysia. Try the clams. Sensational. We will definitely be going back.
We came in and ordered first but received our drink last. No smiles or apologies. This is the third time we came here but I'll make sure it is our last as well. Not worthy
