I haven't been at the Karawane for 6 years due to moving abroad, but I am delighted that after so many years, the restaurant is as good as it always has been. Every week the Restaurant publishes a new menu covering dishes from the orient. Order the weekly menu !!! At the beginning you will than get a plate with 9 small portions of the 9 dishes availably on the weekly menu. Underneath each portion is a number. Once you have tried all 9 dishes, you can than choose your favourite 3 numbers to repeat and you will get a bit larger portion of each, but still not to big portions to continue your journey. Because once you have eaten up the 3, you can choose another 3 and so on. All dishes are really delicious and you will have a hard time to decide which 3 are next. It is a great opportunity to get to know the dishes from so many countries, as in many restaurants you wouldn't know it and not order it. I really hope the restaurant stays on for years to come and I am looking forward to visit them when back in Bonn.

My husband and I were in Bonn-Oberkassel for a relaxing lazy weeked at the Kameha Grand (great hotel!) and wanted to eat somewhere in walking distance to avoid going into town. There isn't much in the area, so we picked the one restaurant that sounded good and reasonably priced. We were so surpirised to have found such a jewel.I ordered the Orientalische Rundreise, my husband got one of the few "conventional" dishes (chicken in an orange/chili sauce with fries and a salad). Both picks were amazing. The service was fast, even though the place was packed on a Saturday night (reserve ahead of time). The Rundreise really is a cool idea, the dishes are varied and all taste great. I have already told tons of people to go to die Karawane and would definitely go back...

Went there on a Friday evening - good to reserve, especially outside, as the placed is very well visited! Really great idea: They serve a different menu every week and you get a plate first with all 9 dishes in very small portions to taste. Then you can choose from these and have "all you can eat" from all the dishes you want. If you don't like oriental food (they call it an oriental journey) you can as well have conventional dishes (french fries, Schnitzel etc.). Very attentative and fast service and very friendly.

Did the fixed price "around the world " offering. You get 9 samples on a plate numbered 1-9, which makes follow up orders simple. And delicious. With 9 choices you get a real variety of tastes and regions (Morocco, Turkey, etc) and it was a matter of tough choices since I couldn't hold nine full servings. And I had to pass on the delicious sounding vanilla sauced baklava.Next time.
