The space is small and intimate. The food was brought out in Styrofoam trays and we were given plastic utensils (the thing is that I only use plastic utensils when I dine out, but I always have to ask for it. This time it was given to me, and that didn't sit well with me. I waited patiently for the food (fried whiting and shrimp about 20 min. The food was surprisingly really good. The owner was pleasant and attentive. If you are in the Nyack area and enjoy fried whiting and/or shrimp, stop by there and give it a shot. There are tables outside as well as inside.
First table I sat down at had fly landing on it so I moved to a table under the ceiling fan. The avgolemono soup was excellent. The chicken gyro was bland and tasteless even with extra tzatziki. The chocolate mousse looked bad but tasted good. However it needed whipped cream which they did not have in the house. The green tea with lemon and honey was good. The service was slow even there were very few customers and several servers standing around and sitting down at a table. The entire experience was barely acceptable.
I had a wonderful dining experience at Kavos Grill! The owner Dimitris was incredibly welcoming and friendly, and the food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend the lamb shank with orzo, which is cooked to perfection. Overall, I had a fantastic time at Kavos and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a delicious and authentic taverna style Greek meal. Kozy Greek tavern, featuring good, home-style, grilled fares and excellent salads. I was greatly surprized they carried retzina (a particular wine for the adventurous). I've eaten here twice and both experiences were wonderful. The food, the atmosphere and the service were all excellent. They have an outstanding chef which prepares some of the best Greek dishes I've ever had. This place is now my #1 place to visit in Nyack! Only tried a few items which were delicious. Would have been 5/5 stars if not for the ridiculous 3.99% credit card fee. 1) that’s insane and 2) maybe let the customers know before? This ain’t a cheap place. Also I know they’re only getting charged like 2% from the cc company so this feels like they’re trying to get one over on the customer. Not cool.
Great Greek restaurant with all you traditional meals prepared fresh. The grill platter for two was unbelievable. The Calamari, salads, spanakopita to die for. Friendly owner and the waitress was top notch! Will be coming back as a regular customer A+
Kavos Grill is my go-to for catering parties. The ordering experience is always positive, Dimitris and his staff are friendly and accommodating, and my guests always compliment the food.
