I love this place- definitely my go-to when I want Ethiopean or Eritrean food. Great veggie platter. Also get the ful, which is a fava bean dip that you 'll find on the breakfast menu, and ask them to hold the yogurt. Staff in my experience is helpful and can help with veganizing and identifying what 's vegan. It 's quite popular, so if you 're going on a weekend evening or some other popular time, you will likely have a wait. I try to go during weekend post-lunch, pre-dinner hours. If you enjoy spicy, this is the place for you. Easily every item on the menu is spicy. Bad thing is, there is no warning towards how spicy their food is. Even worse, most of the menu is pictureless and in a language you most probably do not understand, and the waiter is anything but helpful to describe what is it that will give you that massive heartburn in about an hour. We had a fantastic experience here! Amazing food and such good prices. We ordered the Keren special #4) with chicken and thought it was delicious! It was also big enough for two of us to share granted we don?t have huge appetites). I cannot recall having such good food for dinner in a sit down restaurant for less then $10 each. The wait staff were super kind and helpful, especially helping us decide what to order. I would highly recommend!
After hearing raving reviews from our friends, we finally tried this place?..which quickly became our favorite Ethiopian place in the city. Get the Ethiopian beer, it?s tasty and cheap!! The meal was fabulous and Uber filling. We got there right at the right time because it became packed on a Friday evening!

I enjoy Keren, not in my top 3 Eritrean/Ethiopian restaurants in D.C., but it's a very competitive scene. I agree with another commenter that the space is too tiny, a bit awkward, and in need of updating at the very least. Cool location between DuPont and Adams Morgan.
This is one of my favorite places when it comes to perfect breakfast places, the food was so fresh and tasty, service was on point, the only thing was, the parking is a pain. I highly recommend this place.
Some of the best Eritrean/Ethiopian food I’ve ever had. The staff is so friendly and helpful. The veggie platter is so filling and completely delicious. I would highly recommend a visit if you’re in DC!
I would say Keren is the best breakfast spot in DMV. I would always go there anytime any day. Very cozy and reasonable price. Check them out you won?t be embarrassed.
