If you are looking for authentic Thai(whatever that is), you may be better off heading into the city, perhaps Campbell street vicinity, however if you are going to see a movie at the amazing Cremorne Orpheum cinema, you could do a lot worse than this place. It has all the standard Thai favourites and most are tasty, for me some of the dishes are not quiet spicy and flavoursome enough, I always judge a place by its Pad Kha Prao and larb and for me they were lacking a bit in spice and flavour, but this is probably more suitable to the "fareng" palate.
We visited for a post dinner meal at 8.30pm on a Saturday night and the restaurant was only a quarter full, this should have been an indication of the quality. We ordered salt and pepper squid which had very thick batter and we were unable to eat more than half. The PadThai King prawns were slightly better. Whilst the prawns were good the rest of the dish was very greasy. An hour after finishing our meal we are both feeling very uncomfortable. There are far better options nearby. Karen
Ordered takeaway - this was by far the worst Thai food I have ever had. The crying beef was tough, dry, overcooked and had no flavour, the crispy chicken nibbles for entree were the same and the fried rice was beautiful until you realised you were probably eating a cup of sugar (it was so sweet it was disgusting). I lived in Thailand for 5 years and I can't believe I just got given this food. Sorry to review like this but everyone has a right to know so they can go somewhere else.
Monday night in Cremorne, saw a movie then decided to have a bite to eat- not much open so decided to try this restaurant virtually right next to the Cremorne Orpheum. What a surprise- It was very welcoming, bright, light and very clean, staff most helpful, menu had an excellent selections to suit I would say, all tastes.generous servings- it is also BYO- We will be back Réservez une table maintenant
Excellent quality Thai for very affordable prices and nice ambience. Good for pre/post movies or casual get together. I eat here regularly with friends and we particularly like the drunken noodles, soft shell crab, green curry and curry puff. BYO with friendly service and always around $20 per head. Takeaway is good too.
I'm sorry I didn't snap a photo for this review as the restaurant has a very nice ambience at night. This BYO Thai is perfect before or after the movies. These guys are really trying and it shows. Highly recommended. Note to the owner: dim the lights just a little more and your restaurant will be just that more cosy.
