While walking through downtown Heidelberg, my son and I discovered this restaurant. Although we didn't have a reservation, we were able to get a table because we arrived before the dinner rush hour. We were fortunate to get the only authentic African table at the...restaurant! We were thrilled at the possibility of eating our meal the same way families eat in Ethiopia. We chose their mixed meat and vegetable sampling plate "probierteller). The toppins were served over their typical flat bread and as you guessed, it was to be eaten with the hands! My son drank an African beer while I opted for tea. The service was excellent! The food was incredible good. This plate was huge so it is recommend...
eating is different. I wouldn't say well. they serve essentially different types of blows on a large pancake and have a lot of fruit favored beer to accompany them. sure an experience that is worth trying once. service is however really not great .:so smile or attention, easy effective. the place is in the regular full, so I assume that other people evaluate the food better than I, and it does not require that they make an effort on ease.
It was interesting to eat with my hands from a plate placed on a basket. The food reminded me a bit of Indian food; it was different vegetarian (they all looked vegan) dishes to eat with a wheat pancake. One plate with 4 different vegetarian dishes costs 12,50 € and it's not huge, but fills you up. They also serve fruit flavoured beer in calabash.
first visit in an African restaurant so ordered what was recommended. the variety was spirited both in meat and vegetarian options to blow. must try, the South African beer. ambiente is ok and the service is good. they need a reservation before they go there. they book a slot for each table. This restaurant was totally worth it! When you enter the place you know it is going to be a different experience. We ate the huge bowl for people and you eat with the hands the differents kinds of bread, meat and vegetables. Recommended if...you like to try new things!
