The pub was extremely busy, and to me packed to capacity with the number of tables they could get into the spaces. The staff seemed run off their feet, and stressed doing the best they could. We had a table of eight people one side of the table wedged into the wall with no room to pull the chairs out from the table, with no leg room either. One jug of gravy, and one bowl of additional vegetables between the eight of us, which was under cooked. The meat was tender, the roast potato cooked, mashed ok, and the Yorkshire pudding great. Presentation ok. ! I do not take pleasure in giving bad reviews. However, I found the whole experience chaotic, cleaning the tables as the next party arrived etc....
We stumbled upon this restaurant during our regular Sunday drive in search of dinner. What a hidden gem it turned out to be! The food, especially the vegetables and Yorkshire pudding, was exceptional. While it may be a bit more expensive than some other places, the delicious meal was well worth the extra couple of pounds. The selection of ales was also top-notch. I can only imagine how wonderful it would be to enjoy a meal in the rear beer garden during the summer months. We will definitely be returning to this restaurant soon. Rating: Food 5, Service 5, Atmosphere 5.
Disappointingly average. Lazy menu and food quality. If I'm paying £50 per head I don't expect to have to dig my own cutlery out of a box on the table. No steak knives, and sugar for coffee seems to be an optional extra. The whole experience turned into just another pub meal but at premium prices.
