Simply put: we would never ever set foot in the place, nor would we recommend it to anybody. Why: My wife and I are writing a book on dining establishments along the Gulf Coast from Panama City to New Orleans. We have written half a dozen books on this type of restaurant based travel, having enjoyed dining in three dozen countries around the world. We timed our trip so that we would be specifically at McGuire 's for St. Patrick 's Day we had heard good things about it. We didn 't make it past the door. McGuire's is fantastic! Every time I've visited, I've either enjoyed a wonderful experience or savored amazing food—often both. I recommend avoiding the mistake of the other reviewer who tried to dine at an Irish restaurant on St. Patrick's Day. Like many Irish places on that holiday, McGuire's becomes more of a bar scene. The burgers are mouthwatering, with over twenty options to choose from, and the steaks are large, delicious, and reasonably priced—truly a winning combination in my book. Steeped in rich Irish Culture, Mcguires does not disappoint when it comes to exceptional service and execution of its dishes. I definitely recommend ordering the brew samples to taste what they make in-house for future visits. Food portions are generous, especially the appetizers. Make sure you share or you may not have the stomach space to try out their various, delicious desserts. Mcguires is easily one of the most popular eateries in Pensacola and for good reason. Contrary to what you may read on this site, this local non-chain restaurant is a fantastic must-visit spot in Pensacola. The beef is USDA prime, and the seafood is equally top-notch. The salads are packed with wonderful ingredients. Unlike your typical Irish pub, this place boasts an impressive wine list. I love McGuire’s. I eat there all the time. I have NEVER had a bad meal there. The service is excellent and very clean. Hands down the best smoked prime rib in Florida. The French onion soup always comes out extra cheesy. You can never go wrong with a burger there. I try to get a different kind of burger each visit. I have yet to try them all. A must when in Pensacola.
