I visited this restaurant for the first time and was impressed with the great burgers, lovely service, and quiet, comfortable atmosphere. However, I was disappointed with the Portuguese kale soup. Though the flavor was good, it only contained two small pieces of chouriz and a few kidney beans. The majority of the serving, which was about half a cup, consisted of potatoes. I felt that the soup was overpriced at $5, considering the lack of substantial ingredients. I mentioned my concerns to the front end manager and suggested that the soup should either be larger with more ingredients or priced at $2.50 to $3 at most.
The food at this restaurant is fantastic, but it is not inexpensive. This is not a restaurant where you can expect family-friendly prices. If you plan on dining with a large group, be prepared to spend at least $12.00 per plate. However, the $22.00 lobster roll, while small in size, consisted of nearly 3/4 pounds of freshly cooked meat. The lobster was prepared to order and served with just mayo and butter.
The restaurant offers delicious homestyle food at affordable prices. The service is usually good too. Don't miss out on the clam boil stew served on Thursdays, as well as the daily specials. The lobster sauté was tasty and the country fried steak was delicious. The meatloaf was also flavorful. Mary, our server, was quite good. The dining area and restroom were clean. They stay open fairly late until 9pm.
Lunch at this restaurant was a fantastic experience. With prices ranging from $1 to $10 per person, the food was top-notch. Both the service and atmosphere were excellent, rated a perfect 5. I highly recommend trying their Fish and Chips, Clam Cakes, and French Meat Pie. It's definitely a must-visit spot for delicious and affordable meals.
