Kuni's is a traditional sushi restaurant situated near Elmwood Village on Lexington Avenue. After running a sushi shop on Elmwood Avenue and effectively introducing Buffalo to authentic Japanese sushi, Kuni Sato opened "Kuni's to Go" on Lexington. In 2009, he expanded the location to include proper seating and a bar. The restaurant features some of the most unique fish selections available, and their sake and Japanese beer offerings are quite impressive. Kuni's is open for dinner from Tuesday to Saturday, with prices ranging from $5 rolls to large combo platters priced at $32.
I had a great experience here at Kuni's. The atmosphere was nice and calming. Our server was very friendly. The food came out in a reasonable time and was tasty. The miso soup was flavorful. Unlike a lot of places, the spicy tuna roll actually has pieces of tuna in it. Some places use a paste in place of this and it does not taste good. The sushi and nigiri were high quality. As someone who has gotten sick multiple times from bad fish, I had no anxiousness while eating here. We will definitely be returning here in the near future.
Excellent! I've been visiting Kunis since the 90s when it was located on Elmwood. Although I've since moved away from Buffalo, I make it a point to return every year and go to Kunis. It’s just as fantastic as ever—truly the best crispy rice I've ever had. I'm thrilled to see it busy and thriving. I often joke with my wife about wanting to move back and live on Lexington. Between The Place (a classic!), Kunis, and now Saint Neri, Buffalo is really on the rise!
What a find! This is hands down the best sushi restaurant in Buffalo. If you're after a deep-fried roll loaded with 30 sauces and cream cheese, this isn't the place for you. Here, you’ll find simple, elegant, and delicious sushi offered at very reasonable prices. I haven't tried the entrees yet, but the salads and appetizers are fantastic too. We were searching for a cozy yet warm restaurant in the area with lighter dinner options, and we found it at Kuni! The waitress was friendly, and the restaurant had a nice bustling atmosphere. The food was quite good. Our favorite dish was the hot hot hot fish salad, which was pleasantly not too spicy at all. The Japanese salad was also quite nice. I would also recommend the agedashi tofu.
Great sushi!. This is our go to sushi spot in Buffalo. It's affordable and delicious. I love their wasabi shumai, and my favorite roll is spicy scallop and avocado roll, which isn't actually on the menu. Very fresh fish, great atmosphere, and I personally love the killer jazz music that is usually playing. Highly recommended!
Better go early as this small sushi restaurant fills up fast. Intimate dining experience with authentic sushi. It is absolutely top quality and have yet to find a better sushi restaurant. Amazing service as well. If your looking for traditional rolls this is where you want to find yourself.
