We regularly stop in Valence on our way south, and always stay across the street at the ACE hotel. But until last year we had never eaten at L’Art Terre before. Too bad for us. Other nearby eateries have been disappointing, so this trip after our long walk thru the industrial park, we decided to eat here again. Wonderful choice. They open early for tourists from the north, 18:30 was the start. We were one of the first guests, so we took our time. By the time we finished, the place was full, every table occupied. Goes to show you, the food is very good, and although there were a number of guests from our hotel, most of the guests were French. Show your room key and get a 10% discount. The menu features Italian, French, and international dishes. The wine list is interesting, and the service was very fast and good. French, spoken, perhaps a few English words, the menu is also in English, and you can point. The portions are generous, and attractive. We took the half and half selection, half of a pizza of choice, and half of a salad of choice, which we could barely get down with the great wine we picked. Check out the pictures. Last thing, it was very windy so we ate inside. Out side is fine on a hot summer night, but remember you are near the exit of the tollway, and are on a national highway, so there is quite a bit of traffic and it is not quiet and peaceful outside. Free parking. So now it’s one year after our last visit, and the food is still great, and service very good. We still recommend this place. Yummmmmm!

I ordered their signature dish. The Entrecôte, saignant undercooked. It was tough, tenacious. The kind waitress fully agreed and took it back immediately and served another one. But this one was truly rare . The waitress also agreed. Now, after having 900km in the bones and really starving, I tried to eat it. But the steak was heavily marbeled with tendons and grease. Half of it had to be left. But then, for € 18,90 you can not expect a prime piece of meat. But at least a decent one, eatable. Which this one was absolutely not! My neighbor had a T Bone, and it was completely rare in the middle too. So their cook does really not know what he is doing. Pizzas etc. might be ok, but for meat dishes: hands off!!

Visiting my family in Valence, l'Art Terre is one of the restaurants we have to go to. Labelled as a family restaurant I would recommend this place to everyone. The food is very fairly priced, the portions are very good and the staff friendly. During evening time or on weekends I would recommend to book in advance. You won't be disappointed! Can recommend the tartarw, ravioles, and the camembert.

L'Art Terre is one of those unpretentious small French restaurants half-hidden in a commercial area, but definitely worth discovering. Guests are welcomed as if they were part of the family, with genuine but non-invasive interest. There is a daily menu, but plenty of excellent dishes served a la carte as well.
