We dined three nights in a row at l'Oison and loved every meal. Unlike some traditional French cooking this chef is light handed with creams and sauces but produces exceptional meals. Vegetables were beautifully handled as were the meats. Everything was in balance and oh! so beautiful in the tasting. The wait staff were good, the sommelier fantastic in matching the wines and obviously enjoyed his work. The whole experience over three nights was something to remember. We also enjoyed the fact that not every course was preceded by a detailed description of ingredients and how the dish was prepared. Just close to the city heart of Perigueux in the land of foie gras and truffles this gastronomic restaurant will not disappoint you ... Start with a drink outside on the back terrace of this castle. You will have time there to check the menu and order the dishes ... Waiting to be called when the diner or lunch will be served. The dining room is large and if you are as lucky as I was you can stay in the round room situated in one of the caste towers. Food is really inventive and wine list is well done with some nice surprising Bergerac wines (including a few organic ones). the wine guy is doing a real good job if you are not sure about what to drink. Finally a nice but not cheap table ... But...
We ate at this Michelin star restaurant as part of a weekendesk.fr package. We did not have the top menu, but the Menu Du Terroir which is priced at 47euros per person. You do not select your courses, but instead are served a selection of dishes recommended by the head chef, though of course you are asked if you suffer any allergies or have any particular dislikes. We do not, so were happy to allow the chef to serve us a sample of dishes. The evening was very enjoyable and the meal was very, very good but I would not say that it was one of the best meals I have ever had. I have eaten at other Michelin star establishments and plenty of restaurants that do not have the coveted star but perhaps...
De beaux environs et le meilleur Maître D' que j'ai vu depuis longtemps. Le menu est succinct, mais les plats sont un plaisir à regarder et sont créés avec talent pour la présentation, en proposant des combinaisons de saveurs et de textures exceptionnelles pour offrir un plat complexe mais équilibré pour chaque service. Les conseils en vin sont judicieux et très courtois. Nous avons été bien pris en charge, mais pas constamment vérifiés, tout comme tous les autres convives que nous avons observés. L'atmosphère est calme, civilisée, mais pas oppressivement formelle. Excellent choix et nous y retournerions avec plaisir lorsque nous serons dans la région. Réservez une table maintenant
Le service était très, très long (complètement désorganisé, en fait !) et les plats n'étaient pas assez copieux. Tout au long de la soirée, ils semblaient surpris à chaque étape : oh mais nous n'avons pas encore pris votre commande ? Oh mais nous n'avons toujours pas apporté l'entrée ? Oh mais nous n'avons pas débarrassé avant le plat ? Oh mais vous n'avez pas encore payé ? Deux heures et demie pour un repas léger... et ATTENDRE !!! Heureusement que nous sommes amoureux.... Ils ont néanmoins fait un geste commercial en nous offrant des apéritifs et des vins !
The composition of the menu was very good, the four different types of wine appropriate to the different courses. All ingredients were cooked to the point and fresh. The service was very attentive and friendly. Of course, you pay in the castle the show and the ambiance. But nevertheless a very nice evening with i.a. a lobster ravioli, a dove and a chocolate mousse at the end. Très savoureux!
No Wonderbox ... just our MasterCard and heading for a great meal. Cold dishes, rare surprises, unpassionate waiters, switched menus although confirmed at the reservation, special cutlery... arriving AFTER the meal has been served... everything is there to eat when you have to, but NOTHING to account for a Michelin star! Lots of better restaurants in Périgord !
Everything was excellent in this restaurant. Foie gras, caviar d Aquitaine, Turbot with truffle... Best meal I have ever had. Service is courteous but never intimidating. Wine list is very impressive with very good Bordeaux wines !! I will definitely go back. Fantastic!! Réservez une table maintenant
