La Belle Meunière - Réserver une table

Two French friends and I had dinner there by default. Our prefered restaurant was closed in August (this is France after all! . Our experience was very disappointing. After dinner, the chef came to our table, we kept silent, and he understood that we were not pleased. To make a long story story short, the food was very expensive for Royat (compared to Paris, Royat is a backwater sort of place! and the fussy concoctions were bland and looked unappealing. I had a tiny piece of foie gras for € 29, and my friends selected the € 42 menu decouverte . The chef tries to be imaginative, but in our view, he failed. A good chef must convert simple ingredients into tasty concoctions, but the ingredients...

We had the 'menu d 'éte ' menu for lunch, which meant four superb meals, alternating between very original creations (a wonderful sea bass, asian style) and more traditional cuisine. On top, relaxed atmosphere in a very nice environment. Highly recommended!

Nice food with a nice champagne. Meal for 2 with champagne at 50 euros, total cost 220. The chef came out and went to each table, which was pleasant. Dining room has a pleasant interior with stained glass windows. Would recommend for special occasions.

The menu was a bit exotic for me, and the food, except for the main course, was served a little cutesy. However, the service was very good and I enjoyed my meal. It was a good place to linger and chat.

Just delicious! It's a while ago now, so don't remember all the dishes just that we loved it all and I actually asked for recipes (and I don't usually cook or ask for recipes!! .
