Was visiting my mum who lives here and never had the opportunity to try this restaurant before. She told me they are the same owner than La Roseraie and just moved there. The souvenir I had from La Roseraie was to be a top high level restaurant both from a atmosphere and quality of food. It sounds they lost both as they moved. The place looks cold and average level and I was disappointed by the food: what I mean is that it was too expansive for what it is. What they serve is fine and well cooked but this is not the level that deserve to be priced like they are.A positive point was the service and welcoming: very kind people, close to the customer, this is an important point.Having said that, I believe I will not come back here.
Having eaten and thoroughly enjoyed the experience many times at their previous premises, we were very disappointed at the lack of any ambience or quality at their new place.The tables were cheap with no table cloths and crammed in, the menu card was just that, a card that was looking tatty, the menu was extremely limited with no choices on the set menus.However the food was good and the service reasonable.While I understand the need to move into town to increase the turnover, particularly at lunchtime, we now need to look for another good restaurant for ‘special occasion’ meals.
Visited last week and the restaurant is in a new location in the centre of Guingamp. I don't know if it's the same chef as previously but the food is not as good as I would expect at this price. The starters were well presented and enjoyed all round but the main courses were unimaginative and dull affairs, a bit like the wine list. Desserts equally disappointing. Service was friendly enough but there wasn't a lot here to tempt me back.
This was one of the best dinners of our month-long trip. Service was exceptional, with a warm welcome from the proprietor. The restaurant offers good menus at 24€ and 34€. We had one of each, taking the fish alternatives. La Boissière is easy to find, near the Hotel de Ville.
