Having been to the Grovesnor before and enjoyed great service and food I was so disappointed by how far it fell short on this visit when we returned with friends. On arrival there was no one at either desk to great us. The restaurant was barely a third full so no excuse of being busy. I had booked a table weeks previous for dinner to find on arrival the table only half laid. Instead of asking us to wait at the bar and providing a drink while this was rectified, we were ushered to sit down and the table laid around us. The was a poor start to an increasingly disappointing evening. Drinks were then offered. My partner asked to taste the beer that was on offer for the evening and we were all se...

We stayed in the hotel and were initially planning to go to La Brasserie for the first night and then explore the rest of Chester for future meals. That first meal completely enchanted us to the point that we ate every meal of our stay at La Brasserie: breakfast, lunch, and dinner. They are very kind and understanding of families with young children. Although we feel our son is very well behaved, it is unusual for a fine dining restaurant like La Brasserie to be as good as it is at serving a 6 year old. Why did we come back so often? The bread and butter are delicious, fluffy, and they have a variety to sample. The fish and chips stand out as the best we had in England. Highly recommend. The...

Booked a table for our anniversary and birthday celebration, shown to our table ordered our first course which we chose soup ,very nice and tasty was told it was a new recipe the only thing was it stated came with crusty bread, but did not receive any. Next main course husband had steak which he said was the best steak he's ever had but it again state comes with vine tomatoes, but he didn't get those either, sweet l opt for the chic tart it was that hard nearly broke the plate trying to get the fork through it , milk Ice cream no taste at all . To go with meal had bottle of wine cost £37 (one of the cheapest ones) looked it up and the exact wine in shops is £11.50 l know you pay more at resta...

We dined at the restaurant for the Sunday Champagne menu priced at £45 per person for 3 courses. Unfortunately, the chicken terrine starter had sharp bone fragments in it. When we informed the kitchen, there was no response. While we did not expect a discount (we left a gratuity as the waiting staff were lovely), we did expect at least an apology from a well-managed kitchen. One of us ordered the cod for the main course, but it was not a complete meal - there was a reasonable piece of cod but very little else served with it. The Champagne menu ended up costing £45 per person plus additional charges for a complete meal. The issue here is not about the money but feeling misinformed. The restau... We had a late lunch here recently; our experience this time was much better than our November 2022 experience. Ambience The restaurant was quiet and we selected as table by the front window. We had a relaxing meal in reasonable surroundings. Service This was very good throughout our meal. All members of staff were polite, friendly and efficient. Food and drink Perfectably acceptable, but nothing to get excited about. The carafe of sauvignon blanc (NZ) was excellent value. All in all, a relaxing meal in decent surroundings with very good service.

The Brasserie at the Grosvenor hotel is a fantastic option for a meal at a high-end restaurant without breaking the bank. The tables are nicely spread out, allowing for a peaceful dining experience in a quiet atmosphere, a refreshing change from the usual noisy restaurant scene. The menu offers a variety of delicious dishes and the service is top-notch. The food quality is impressive, consistent with the high standards of a hotel with a Michelin-starred restaurant like the Arkle.

I was in the city with my son, who very kindly offered to treat me to dinner. Neither of us had dined here for some years, so decided to give it a go . We waited until after 5.00pm as the casual dining menu looked uninspiring, but the a la carte promised more. Without going into tedious detail , the surroundings, staff ,food and wine were wonderful. We shall be back .

The food was excellent and the chef was top-notch. The meal was flawless, a perfect 10/10 rating. Highly recommend this restaurant and I will definitely come back for the champagne Sunday menu. I chose the pork belly dish which was cooked perfectly and served with vegetables and roast potatoes. The staff were very accommodating to my gluten intolerance. Réservez une table maintenant

Returned, yet again, to The Brasserie yesterday to celebrate my husband’s birthday. The venue is gorgeous and is our go to special place. The staff here are excellent and made a huge effort to make my husband’s birthday memorable. The food was also very good and we went home afterwards pleased that we’d chosen to visit this lovely restaurant.
