it was a warm family business. but. we didn't order a brot. brot was laid on our table. if they know the need in Spain, i.e. when they eat it, they are calculated per piece, we have decided not to touch the brot. it was removed after our meal. we put the bill on our bill. the originally very welcoming owner replied that we had rejected the brot first and he refused to adjust our bill. we spend a lot of time in Spain, and this is the first time we have met such a practice. the restaurant staff asks whether we want to brot. if they bring it, we will only be charged for what we eat. this restaurant nods and stances it. they also have a charge on the menu when they use the olive oily - the first time we ever encountered this in our travels. Please avoid this restaurant.
after visiting the market with friends here in the late afternoon. was pleasantly surprised. it blossomed with locals who enjoy the delicious menu. our host ward personnel gave great service. a lot of choice for every taste. the papas arugadas croquetas were...fantastic although we see again in november, we will remember having the smaller portion option or sharing a plate as they are very generous portions.
family located in the property and running. near the san mateo market. traditional Spanish cuisine. menus in English. very reasonable prices. that said: “reasonable” does not mean that cheap tourist food. this place has a call to keep as they realize, have enough local businesses to keep the things good. I was surprised that la brega is not rated higher because we found nothing better in san mateo.
La Brega is a spacious family restaurant just a block from the famous weekend market of the Vega de San Mateo. The establishment specializes in well-prepared, economical dishes, mostly from the Canary Islands and Spain in general. The atmosphere is family oriented and the many...large tables that occupy the dining room fill up at lunch time, particularly on Sunday afternoons.
