St. Claude used to be the centre of France's pipe industry, but unsurprisingly the decline in smoking has strangled this line of work. La Bruyere is a former pipe factory, and it is worth a visit just for the interiors and fascinating machinery on display (have you ever seen a pipe-bowl plane?)We were the only guests from 8-9pm on a weekday evening until another table-full showed up, but that seems typical for off-season in St. Claude. Friendly, professional welcome. We only had the fondue, which was tasty and plentiful. Once the other guests arrived, they seemed very pleased with their menu.

L'endroit est une ancienne usine qui a été magnifiquement rénovée. Le service est vraiment agréable, souriant et efficace. La cuisine, bien ancrée dans la tradition locale, est créative. Les portions sont assez généreuses, mais pourraient être un peu plus grandes. Je recommanderais définitivement ce restaurant pour les familles et les groupes d'amis.
We loved this restaurant. The service was incredible, staff was extremely friendly and warm and the atmosphere was fantastic. Don't let the outside of the restaurant fool you into thinking it isn't worth a visit. We are hoping to go back again on this trip!!!...We LOVED the fondue (a mix of comte, morbier and bleu de gex). The place is an old factory that has been nicely redecorated. The service is really nice, smiling and efficient. The food although rooted in the local tradition, comes in a creative way. Portion are OK size wise but could be a larger though. I would...definitely recommend that restaurant for family and group of friends.

Ce restaurant offre toujours une expérience agréable. L'atmosphère est belle et la nourriture est bonne. La sélection du menu est petite, avec généralement trois plats principaux : viande grillée, poisson ou autres. Je n'ai jamais eu un mauvais repas ici. Réservez une table maintenant
