When I read earlier reviews I can't believe that I've been to the same restaurant. I must issue a warning here. This restaurant is overpriced and the food is no good at all. It was served without any finess and tasted at it's best simply nothing. For exampel was the entre "mozzarella with ruccola and tomato" served icecold straight from the refrigirator. The cheese was not even cut but served as a chunk together with not very tasty tomatoes cut in four. The restaurant was understaffed and the poor three guys working didn't have a clue. They could not recommend any wine and said frankley that they had no idea what would go well with the food. They did not take any international creditcards so...

Both the food and the interactions with the staff are welcoming, rewarding and authentic. Just ask the staff for their recommendations, they in tun will ask how hungry you are which begins a rewarding process. The grilled squid starter, incredible tortellini, or wild mushroom pasta, followed by the main of your choice has been a real treat each time in this difficult to find, hole in the wall, authentic Italian bistro on the river in Tubingen. Worth the 25 minute drive through the countryside from Stuttgart. The menu is adjusted daily and is seasonal; thus the need and enjoyment of asking for guidance. In the summer months the patio in the back overlooking the Neckar river with the small "pun...

Two years of excellent food and service experiences that went through a management change a few months ago, and now it is back to the standards established for many years. The Swedish “disaster” caught them during the transition. Our party of eight left the selection of the dishes to the wait staff and enjoyed the fresh fish, pasta and wine selection. The homemade buffalo mozzarella is served as a “ball”; as it is in Italy with a touch of balsamic. The prosciutto, and other antipasti accompaniments were excellent. The only perceptible change were the serving sizes that were larger than the previous visits. In the warmer months try the outdoor tables in back of the restaurant, along the river...

In late April I attended a function with family and friends at La Cantinella; actually, the group was large enough to fill the entire guest room, which was pleasant, even though, weather permitting, the 'terrace' on the Neckar would have been more atmospheric. Food was lovingly prepared and very tasty, from antipasti misti (meatless to accomodate non-carnivorous guests) to entrees (saltimbocca/tris di pesce/tagliatelle agli asparaghi verdi) and desert (tiramisù & panna cotta), not to neglect the wines, from prosecco to white (Apulian) or red (Piedmontese--sorry, I forget their names!). Service was attentive and friendly. All in all an entirely enjoyable experience. Worth repeating. Réservez une table maintenant

When we arrived we were told the restaurant was fully booked so thought we'd be disappointed. But it was no problem - they rejigged their reservations and found us a table so we could enjoy dinner, albeit with a 90 min limit. Food very nice (grilled fish tasty, ravioli superb), wine genuinely excellent, staff/service lovely throughout. Great atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We really liked the atmosphere of the place and the service. We were just a little disappointed in the food portions. I ordered the fish special, but there was very little fish on the plate. My sister ordered the pasta al mer, and also had very little fish. What was there tasted fine but nothing was very memorable, and it certainly didn't seem to be worth the price asked.

The restaurant is located in the old town along one of the many small streets. The interior has an antique atmosphere that includes large poster photos of Sophia Loren (one of my favorites). I had a pasta dish that was quite ordinary, with an ordinary presentation. Other items may have been better, but I dined there only once. Very nice wine selection, however.

I've had very good food here before. Tonight we stopped in for a little bite, salad and ravioli, and not much to drink. Staff was incredibly arrogant, made it clear that they felt we didn't spend enough. Typical European attitude. Réservez une table maintenant

Everything one expects from Italian dining is there on the menu. Only pizza is lacking. Cooking and food is on the higher end of Italian fare. Produce is impeccable. Somehow we were surprised by the high amount of the check.
