Wow! What a lunch. I am not from New York City but friends there have repeatedly talked me into their favourite steak restaurant in Williamsburg, Brooklyn which I find not great. I had lunch twice last week with Colombian friends at Mario the Argentine in Apartado. Oh, man was my meat good. I had the lomito. The lady had the lomito. One man friend had churrasco and the other, bife chorizo. We all raved about it. It was a killer and two of us were back 2 days later and it was a killer again. Mario told me that he ages his meat himself. He says that his blend of pork and beef hamburger is fantastic. The usual problem with beef on the coast is that if it is from local cattle it doesn't have enough fat so it can be pretty chewy. Usually you are better to have pork. Mario's meat probably comes from animals raised near Medellin. All I know is, I'm going back to Apartado at the first available opportunity. It is not a place that I go to often but I will know. What a wonderful lunch. Peter Luger, put a spike through your head.
