Having eating in our hotel the previous night and been a little underwhelmed, I searched online to find out if there were any Michelin Star rated restaurants nearby and...was pleasantly surprised when this one popped up, just five miles from the hotel. tired and weary from our redeye flight into span, we drove towards Toledo looking for somewhere to eat. We took a chance stopping at an impressive building which looked like a restaurant, only to find it deserted. a few meters down the sideroad we spotted...an entrance to an unassuming opening. We were ready to try anything. Imagine our surprise and delight to find ourselves in one of the best places we have ever eaten. traveling through Spain, a friend of mine insisted that we go to one of their favorite restaurants. michelin star rated la casa del carmen just out toldeo. it certainly does not have much from the outside, or even from the inside, but eating was manifico! after. the 5 curses I felt sure it was Christmas and came home for a nod. the value for money is amazing given its rating. next time I'll have breakfast before I go!
I was with a group of about 30 people, so my opinion is probably biased. I think the service will be better for small groups. first, the staff never filled empty water bottles. all main dishes came cold (fish and pork). fortunately, the rest of the food should be served cold. eating tastes good, but it lacks creativity.
