La Cave - Réserver une table

We visited as two couples in 2018 September. The room is beautiful, very romantic and unique. The food was excellent as I recall, and the wine was nice as well. I was the only one in our group who spoke French, and it is very rusty especially with some of the items on La Cave 's menu. No one else spoke French. Our waiter of course was French speaking. One person in our party, frustrated, said can you get someone who speaks English? because she was having difficulty ordering. I was mortified but the waiter was very gracious. My only complaint is that it seems I have to call in advance for reservations and we are in the US and I have no international cell phone plan right now. I wish we could reserve for late June when we are returning there. I guess we 'll have to wait until we are there and hope we get lucky! I hope we can get in for another wonderful experience at La Cave.

This was the best meal I’ve had out in over a year. My favorite foie gras to start followed by the most incredible côte de bœuf of my life. Cooked perfectly rare and carved table side. It had a fiery smokiness on the seared crust that reminded me of BBQ. You can only get that flavor with an open flame. I don’t even remember the specifics of my chocolate dessert because my wife had a soufflé that tasted like key lime pie. On top of all that, we had an amazing bottle of wine that was a mere 26€. The best value in France. And I haven’t even mentioned the great ambiance of being in the cave not the excellent service. I would make a return trip from Paris just to eat at La Cave.

My husband and I dined at La Cave last summer during a trip to the Loire Valley and we fell in love. The food, the ambience, and the local wine all combined for a memorable evening. Would highly recommend the côte de bœuf, which is massive (served for two) and extremely high quality and well cooked. The Touraine Rouge wine we had there, while very affordable, is also one of our favorite reds we've tried.

Touring the Loire Valley and not stopping here would be a mistake. The duck breast was perfectly seared, the baked snails were bubbling hot in a sauce of tomatoes, wine and a bit of cream, and the chocolate lava cake finished the meal perfectly. Add to that a generous pour of their own wine, and this memory will happily linger.

A very unique restaurant built inside a cave.The food was mediocre. You can't be in that restaurant very much because the humidity is huge and the smell of mold in the house.
