I’ve written and sent this review twice already but it hasn’t been accepted. I’ll be brief this time. La Cayena is almost certainly the best Italian restaurant in Conil for pizzas. You may be disappointed that there are no risottos, but if you ring up in advance, they will do one for you. They certainly did for me. The pasta dishes are very interesting, if only because some of them incorporate little known types of pasta such as strozzapreti choke priest). But they’re much more than that. The people who provide your food cooks and waitresses are excellent. When they open again, go there. They’re about 4 miles out of town on the way to the fishing port. No problem parking.
We ate here 3 times in our holiday, once as a couple and twice with friends. Each time food and service were great. A lovely outside dining area (quite hot at lunchtime, even with the shade) with friendly team, especially Gemma, who served us each visit. Fantastic Choice of pizzas, good range of pastas too and some daily specials with a simple wine list. Pizzas are large so each time we had to take away or ‘para llevar’
Stopped here almost out of necessity as we were let down by another restaurant. Doesn't look like much from the outside but more than made up for appearances in food. Nice choice of Italian food including the obvious pizzas and very nice desserts. Book in advance for dinner as it does fill up quickly.
