"Mad woman owns/runs the place. Service was bad and food not great. No attention to detail, no interest in the customer, left feeling cheated!!! The bill eventually came but was wrong. Couldn't attract anyone's attention so paid and left. Mistake well in our favour so thank you La Chaumiere!!"

Food middling, cider ropey, wine passable. So let's talk about the service.Things don't start well when, after finally attracting a waiter, we are given one menu for the table - there are four of us - whereas other tables get the traditional one menu per person, we notice. We order drinks, but end up stealing a water glass from another table, it takes so long for glasses to arrive.I have to ask for serviettes. We all order two course menus, two adults' (moule frite & dessert) and two childrens' meals. The childrens' arrive. Fifteen minutes later I chase for the adults'.The moules eventually arrive and, shortly after, the children's desserts are ordered and arrive. The children finish their desserts with us still working our way through the moule, with a ridiculously small pyrex lid to put the empty shells in. We wait. One adult place setting is cleared. We wait. The other eventually goes.We ask about desserts. Not much happens. We end up having to borrow the adjoining table's menu.We send the kids to play in the car park next to the harbour to enjoy the last of the sunshine, hoping they won't fall in.It's a full 30 minutes between the kids finishing their desserts and our dessert order being taken. THIRTY MINUTES. For a two course menu. How is that possible? No apology; no sense, even, of anything being out of the ordinary.

Overall excellent experience. The restaurant was busy when we arrived but the owner was very attentive. Our food was excellent and fresh, all from the daily specials board - langoustines with aioli as a starter, sardines and smoked (in house) mackerel for mains, and local speciality pancakes (kouign) with salted butter caramel for dessert. The chef came out to make sure everyone was happy with their food during the meal. Nice views across the working harbour. Reasonable prices. Highly recommended.

Not too many complaints about the food although it being a Monday evening many of the fish dishes were off.The problem was we were surrounded by small flies even though we moved table. When we pointed out the problem we had a shrug of shoulders! This is a small, rustic restaurant serving mainly fish. For us it was a dining experience to forget.

A lucky find. A restaurant which offers fresh local food, in this case fish, at sensible prices in a friendly and comfortable atmosphere. Little English spoken, but then we speak little French! But we all enjoyed our fish dishes and reasonably priced desserts. We can recommend the home cooking at this quaint restaurant.
