Centrally located in the town the restaurant has a pleasant eating area in an enclosed space in the open air. The owner/waiter was very efficient but lacked a bit of humour. The wines were rather pricey as was the final bill of plus euros...per person. I chose steak for my plat principal and was bitterly disappointed. I noticed the owner cringing when I asked for it to be cooked rare and he asked if everything was all right before I'd even tasted it. It was not rare, it was tough and the gristle and fat amounted to more than half its weight. He could see that when he cleared our plates. C'est notre première visite, mais ce ne sera pas la dernière! Il a été recommandé par des amis et nous le recommanderions également. Nous avons pris le menu du jour en semaine, une sélection de trois entrées (soupe à l'oignon, salade aigre, samosas que j'ai pris ... et ils étaient délicieux), deux options pour le plat principal (saumon ou pintade), puis un choix entre fromage ou dessert (huiles professionnelles ou crème/glace/meringue et cerises fabuleuses aussi! le tout pour 16 euros. Très impressionné par le service, la nourriture et l'ambiance du restaurant.
J'ai découvert La Citronelle par hasard après avoir persuadé ma famille de ne pas aller dans le "transport café" local pour le dîner. Quelle merveilleuse découverte, la nourriture était absolument exquise, le service impeccable et l'atmosphère absolument délicieuse. Le propriétaire et chef britannique nous a vraiment impressionnés, nous avons mangé tôt et au moment de partir, c'était complet. Un excellent menu pour enfants ainsi qu'un menu à la carte qui ne peut être critiqué. Je le recommande vivement.
This is our first visit but it wont be our last! It was recommended by friends and we would be happy to recommend it too. We had the weekday set menu, a choice of three starters (onion soup, gesier salad, samosas I had these...and they were delicious), two options for main (salmon or guinea fowl) then a choice of either cheese or dessert (profiterols or cream/ice cream/merangue and cherries fab it was too all for euros. Discovered La Citronelle by chance after persuading my family against the local transport cafe' for dinner. What a wonderful find, the food was absolutely exquisite, service impeccable and the atmosphere absolutely delightful. The British owner and chef really impressed, we ate early and by the...time we were leaving it was full. Great children's menu as well as an a la carte menu that cannot be faulted. Would highly recommend.
J'ai mangé ici lors d'une journée pluvieuse et maussade la semaine dernière, dans un charmant bâtiment ancien au centre de la ville. Le restaurant est confortable et cosy, et la nourriture est délicieuse. Le service était excellent et amical, même si le menu du jour standard était très bon et le restaurant était assez animé, toujours un bon signe. Je suis heureux de recommander ce restaurant.
We visit this area often as we have family near by, we eat here almost every. Time as the food is excellent, as is the service, I had the swordfish which was cooked perfectly moist and tender, not over cooked as it often an be,...we all had a different meal and every one of us enjoyed it immensely, can wait to go back
Ate here on a wet and drizzly day last week lovely old building in centre of the town comfortable and cosy restaurant and great food. Service was excellent and friendly meal (although the standard daily menu was very good and the restaurant...was quite busy always a good sign. We have been to the La Citronelle many times. Lunch set menue is Euros, always very good food,and very good value, beautifully presented, Paul the owner is a pleasure to chat to. Beautiful surroundings. Will be going back, good service. If visiting Riberac it's...a must!
