Arrived at chain hotel on ouskirts of Bellegarde late Saturday evening, (stopover on way home from skiing), to find restaurant closed at weekends - what a stroke of luck that turned out.to be, as we stumbled across La Colonne in the town. The place looked a little austere from outside, but the food was top notch and very reasonable priced for the 3 course set menu, including a complimentary "amuse bouche". I would certainly recommend this restaurant.

I ate here twice during my stay in Bellegarde. The food I had was fine the first night and there was some quite good company too and it was well priced. The second night I had violent stomach cramps afterwards and I have thought a lot about it and I can only assume that the mushroom sauce on the pork was not up to scratch: I recovered overnight but was pretty sick for a while. Try it but watch the sauces!

I got to this restaurant by chanche, and i wasn't disappointed. Though the service was a bit slow, it didn't lack of kindness. My duck magret with orange sauce was simply great: charred on the outside, red on the inside, sauce was good and the side-served ratatouille tasted fresh and good. I had the best creme brulé ever as dessert (the first i ever tried in France, though.)

La Colonne is consistently good, with a decent menu and a nice atmosphere (although a bit austere.) Service is good and prices are reasonable for Bellegarde, though you do better to order the menus as some of the a la carte dishes are pricy. The choices are limited in Bellegarde, and La Colonne is among the better options. Réservez une table maintenant

This restaurant is consistently good and the prices are reasonable for the region. Good standard hamburgers and excellent steak (the one imported from Uruguay.) I also highly recommend their sister restaurant - le Foyer - on the outskirts of town where the duo of salmon is excellent. Friendly service to boot.

Not much choice in Bellegarde but it is not needed as the food here was very good. My husband had a steak that he said was the best one he had had for years and I had a duo of salmon that was delicious. Also a daily menu at a cheap price which looked good;

Un bel endroit si vous êtes proche de la gare. Le service était correct. La nourriture (nous avons partagé la fondue et le rôti) était bonne.
