La Cuisine du Boucher

Aussi triste que médiocre ce restaurant était aujourd'hui. Je pense toujours que si une chose va mal, tout va mal. Nos menus sont arrivés immédiatement, 15 minutes se sont écoulées avant que la commande d'apéritifs ne soit passée, 35 minutes avant de commander, 55 minutes avant de recevoir les entrées sans couverts, 10 minutes plus tard, le pain est arrivé après 2 demandes. Deux plats principaux sont arrivés, les deux autres n'étaient pas là, après 3 autres réclamations, les 2 autres sont arrivés. J'ai dû renvoyer un steak car il n'était pas assez cuit. Le steak est revenu immédiatement, mais était aussi rare que s'il ne l'avait pas été pire. J'ai abandonné à ce moment-là, je ne pouvais pas le renvoyer. J'ai mangé une petite quantité, mais c'était dur et à mâcher avec trop de sang autour de l'assiette. Le personnel était poli, mais il y en avait trop peu pour le nombre de personnes qui mangeaient. Nous nous sommes plaints et avons eu une réduction sur l'addition, mais finalement la nourriture et le service étaient incroyablement mauvais.

We were staying in the village of Saint Quentin la Poterie, so a visit was always on the cards. We dropped by one lunchtime to make a reservation for the following evening. On the way back out my I was drawn to an enormous plateful...of giant gambas. We never made it back to the street, instead found ourselves a table and ordered two portions of gambas and a carafe of house rose. The gambas were delicious, perfectly grilled and cost just €16.50 for the plate of five gambas plus either a basket of French fries or baked potato and vegetables. On our second visit we shared an enormous perfect salad as a starter followed by brochette of steak. We dined on three occasions and I would not hesitate to recommend this restaurant as a very enjoyable relaxed professionally run establishment.

This restaurant is about the butcher, so meat seemed the best direction to go. All our food choices were excellent. The beef was cooked perfectly, the appetizer was fantastic, and the outdoor patio was just right for the balmy August evening. The service was friendly...(and as all French restaurants seem to be slow. I think they just space things out differently than we do in the US, but it takes some getting used to the spaces between ordering, appetizers, your meal, dessert and then the bill.

Le restaurant était très animé, évidemment populaire auprès des locaux même un jeudi après-midi, mais nous avons eu une table car nous sommes arrivés tôt. Malheureusement, l'un des plats les plus gentils a dû être renvoyé car il était trop cuit, à tel point qu'il était inutilisable, mais il a été rapidement remplacé. Le reste de la nourriture était très bonne et 18 € pour 3 plats sur le menu Midi était très bien. Du thon, du steak et un bon dessert aux pommes.

We had a wonderful meal here at a very reasonable price. This is a restaurant owned by the local butcher and using his meat and charcuterie. I strongly recommend this restaurant. They have a choice of 4 different Tartars , steaks and Gourmet burgers. Starters...are very large and better shared between 2 or 3...treat them as tapas. Desert was also excellent. Service was good and unintrusive. Unusually there is a good view of the wine cellar from the toilet.
