It was our last night in Canberra after a short family stay. We really felt like some Italian food this night and after a bit of checking online we picked a few places to go. This was not one of them because the reviews were a little mixed and some were pretty scathing to be honest. So we went for a few of the places with better reviews. We weren't able to get in to those places at the time we wanted. We know that reviews are personal and depend on the persons circumstances so we thought we would try this place and we were able to get a table for 4.Now I like to think that we know good Italian food pretty well as my wife comes from an Italian background and her mom cooks some great food.Well...
Food excellent - big portions, flavour, presentation - this restaurant has it all!! Dinner for 7, great atmosphere, no over the top loud music made it really easy to hold a conversation with my friends. The food, as i described was brilliant.The only let down was the service. Ordered drinks, had to remind the wait staff about one they 'forgot'. Interesting that we did not get asked if we required more drinks (it is BYO and we had a bottle of red - but 2 guests drank soft drink and one had white wine!)Entres arrived and what I thought was a single serve of garlic bread was actually 2! Mains - again had to remind rhe wait staff about a missing meal.As I said - we will go back because the food...
I'm not sure what I was expecting from this place, there was a good crowd and it looked inviting. Great garlic bread and delicious pasta.But the service was just clunky and DIY. Order some wine...pour it yourself...not to mention the glass they gave me was dirty...I asked for another...they brought back the same glass that had just been wiped with a rag. Would you like some cracked pepper and cheese. I'd just gets lumped on the table. Small things but they would have really lifted the experience.It is byo as well....next time I'd go for a pizza and bring my own wine. With that mindset I think I'd really like the place. Prices were reasonable, just don't go for a dinning / service experience.
My hubby and I were peckish so we stopped here for dinner. We were promptly taken to a table and placed our order. We started with the cheese and garlic focaccia. It came out a few minutes later, piping hot and delicious. Mmm..cheesy goodness with just the right amount of garlic (I often find restaurants either use too much or too little). For main I had the home made cheese and spinach ravioli with nepoli sauce. Hubby had the fettuccini carbonara. Both were yummy and we couldn't fault the meals at all. My hubby said it was the best carbonara he has had. Ever! The prices were reasonable and the service prompt but unobtrusive. Highly recommended - we left with full, content tummies!

Visited for a family evening meal. The food was good but the service was only average. had to ask twice for our Italian pizza bread to be brought and when the main meals came five were served together and the 6th we had to ask for 3 times. When paying mentioned these aspects and our disappointment with the service and were told by the cashier "well we were busy" no apologies at all. Will think twice before going there again.
I LOVE LA DOLCE VITA!!! We come here with my partner every time we are craving good pasta. My favourite dish is the penne amatriciana and fusili burina. The pizza is really good as well. It is BYO too, and the corkage is only $8 per bottle! ❤️The staff are lovely and they always have a table available for us. We have taken our family and friends there because we absolutely love it and they have also become fans! ❤️
Quick tasty Italian food. Was pretty busy which is always a good sign; in an unknown area especially. Serving size was average to good. A touch of sour cream with the pasta dishes would have been a nice option imo but very good. Garlic bread was yummy though an extra piece would be better value. The downside is trying to get a car parking spot. That was quite difficult.
Just arrived in Canberra for an overnight work trip & tried the lamb shanks & vegetables at La Dolce Vita. I beat the rush, just (arrived at 1810), as the place was pretty full by 1830. Service, ambience & food quality were faultless. Is one of the main reasons I keep coming back to the place. Thank you. You haven't let me down.

Went for a nice meal with a young family. Good & friendly service. Provided with some coloring pencils for the kids to Col our in the paper table cloth which was a good distraction. Food was good and plentiful. They initially brought the wrong meals out, but fixed it without a problem. Would recommend for an Italian meal.
We had an awesome meal here! pasta, pizza and steak! Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend it ????
