This is the second time we 've visited la Ferme Basque. The first time was in 2008 in the depths of winter, tucked into a corner of the small inside restaurant with a cassette fireplace blazing to provide heat. This time the in the warm march sunshine it was a different experience, not sure if it has changed hands but there was a friendly welcome and a nice atmosphere with a choice of a la carte or a E29 3 course Menu. We sat on the terrace with great views across the valley towards the town of Cauterets and beyond. We brought our young puppy Rollo expecting he 'd be a problem but he was welcome too. Vous voyez cet endroit à chaque fois que vous prenez le téléphérique pour monter la montagne, mais je me demande combien de personnes font le voyage pour y manger? Notre famille a décidé de monter à pied jusqu'à ce restaurant plutôt que de conduire (pour ouvrir l'appétit). Le chemin est parfois difficile, mais ça en vaut vraiment la peine. Nous sommes arrivés vers la fin de l'heure du déjeuner, et avons dû attendre pendant que le personnel se dépêchait de débarrasser et de faire les factures, mais une fois visible, le serveur était attentif et efficace. (Le personnel parle plusieurs langues, donc pas de problèmes pour la plupart des touristes!)
pleasant place overlooking the valley of cauterets. We gave 2/5 for the following reasons. We have taken a very good garbage and the menu discovered at 28 eur for salad with some bacon and fresh pork granules, then a vulgar black pork rib accompanied by tarbais beans and fries houses. this menu does not deserve the 28 eur prize. The worst is the demand for melba blueberries processed without our consent in blueberry ice, certainly homemade, but billed at the price of 7.5 eur off menue. It's a pity and hoping that we didn't have a chance because it doesn't match the other opinions.
Perched up high above Cauterets with great panoramic views if you sit outside. The owners were lovely and chatty. The cassoulet they served was the best I have ever tasted and I have had a lot and feel I know a good one when I find it. All the dishes used their own meats etc. The charcuterie to start was really good and I couldn't resist the cheese board to end with. They also sell their own produce in a little shop. I will be ordering the cassoulet to go! Totally recommend going there.

Nous venons de Californie mais nous sommes passionnés par le Pays Basque français. Notre visite à La Ferme Basque a été fantastique. L'accueil était chaleureux et sincère, chaque plat était présenté avec des sourires et une conversation agréable. La nourriture était délicieuse. Nous attendons avec impatience notre prochaine visite en septembre 2017!
Endroit fantastique. Nous sommes une famille de 4 et nous avons passé une expérience formidable. Nous avons été accueillis par un personnel très accueillant, les serveurs, le chef, et beaucoup d'autres personnes sur place. La nourriture préparée à partir d'ingrédients cultivés à la maison était super bonne. Vaut vraiment la peine d'être visité.
The main reason for eating here is the view, which is simply stunning. The owners are friendly and service efficient. The dishes and many of the ingredients are home-made. Not cheap but not excessively expensive for what you're getting either.
Bonne bouffe et ambiance au coeur des Pyrénées ! Nourriture faite maison… Le personnel était professionnel et sympathique… Une belle expérience que nous recommandons vivement ! On ne pouvait pas les quitter sans acheter 2 pots de garbure !!!
