"We managed a table on the deck by the river. They offer some nice "Tarte Flambees" (or Alsatian pizza - if I can say), the Munster one is excellent and a nice plate of charcuterie, make a great relaxing lunch. The selection of wines from Alsace is decent and let you try different one (by the glass or 1/4).Definitely recommend it."

We went for a day trip to Colmar during a week's holiday in Strasbourg. Colmar is very pretty and a real tourist trap as a result. We wanted tartes flambees for lunch so headed for La Fleur de Sel based on TripAdvisor. It's a smashing little spot right on the canal that runs through the town - little wooden punts filled with tourists sail past regularly. It's a pretty small set up so not many tables but the cheery, helpful waitress who spoke 3 or 4 languages constantly managed to fit people in. We got our tartes flambees - they were very good - at on average 10 euros. This was very competitive compared to other places we passed and in a much nicer setting. Tartes flambees plus drinks for four came to just over €50 - can't complain at that. Would definitely go again and highly recommend.

We stopped for lunch and had our best Tarte Flambee of the trip. It was delicious and exactly how it should be. Thin and crisp with perfectly cooked onions and everything as light a can be. The pudding is definitely worth a try - we had the one with the mini dessert selection and espresso. Good value and full of lovely flavours (chocolate sponge, sorbet, fresh rasps). The welcome was warm, but we also appeared to be the only people who didn't know the owner (?) personally. Everyone else got hugs and kisses - perhaps a measure of how much repeat business is done here. The menu isn't extensive but what they do, they do well. On wet days - get there early. It's very intimate!

It was a lovely day, so everyone in town wanted to eat outside. We got there and the terrace on the river was full and I asked to reserve for the next day because I really wanted to come here. The very friendly server said, oh just wait a couple of minutes, some people have already paid. So very worth the short wait. We got a great little table right by the railing. Lovely lunch experience. I will definitely come again and I'll make sure to reserve. I almost don't want to write a review at all so that the place doesn't become overrun.

We tried the chèvre tarte flambée, which has goat cheese pieces on. It was the best I've eaten. The dough is extremely thin which makes you feel like you haven't had much calories. :) And the terrace on the canal has great view. The only downside is the bad smell coming from the canal on and off. But maybe this is only an issue on summer days.
