La Grange De Tom

This restaurant could be so good, and yet... The food they offer is my type of thing. Executed fairly well. 4 out of 5 for the food. The service is a huge let down. We had a booking. We arrived, and were ignored for 5 minutes. There was no other customers there when we arrived. No offer of aperitif while we were waiting to be seated. After we were seated, service was ok. There were only three other tables occupied at this point. Food and drinks arrived within reasonable time. Food was pretty good. But then, they ignored us entirely for 1.5 hrs. We couldn’t attract the waiting staff attention, for love nor money. We sat at our table with dirty plates of seafood for all that time. We wanted more wine. But no service. I had to wander through the restaurant to ask for our table to be cleared, more wine and the desert menu. At least another half an hour passed before our keen eyeing for the staffs attention brought them over. They offered no apology, and showed no sign that anything we ordered for desert would arrive any time soon. Desert arrived. Apple crumble. A big let down. Kind of a child’s pudding really. I asked for the bill as soon as desert hit the table, anticipating a long wait for it. In the end we spent 3.5 hrs there. 3 courses and two bottles of wine €160. The service was such a let down I would be hesitant to return. Probably won’t. I blame the management. The waiting staff that were working were busy. Not enough staff!

Sunday lunch 4 adults plus a very patient 1 year old. •Arived 12.30. •Sat outside, given menus and infant chair •Tried to order drinks from table •Ignored. •Waited politely until 1.15pm and but had to chase to even order a drink. Ordered food same time as could see not enough staff. •2.30pm only one drink later which we drank slowly and still no food or explanation to say sorry for the wait. • Spoke with waiter. 230pm . He said it is this way...we are busy. You have to wait !? His English was excellent so no language mis understanding. I asked if we could have some bread as we had been waiting for 2 hours with a baby aged 1. He answered that bread was served with the main food !? • Please note. We were seated outside in an area which the staff did not walk by. You had to physically go into the building to find someone and plead for service People who arrived later were by now being served food. •We walked out at 2.40pm. Left money for drinks on table. Cannot comment on food as after 2 hours 10 minutes we never had any.

We have visited this restaurant several times, today was special . We had our pre drinks and ordered our meal we had a wonderful young man Gabriel serve us he was so helpful,polite and very kind. Our food was absolutely wonderful, so very good. The staff were excellent really pleasant.We will return, we both believe this was the meal was the best we have ever had in France. Well done to management and staff.

Booked a table for dinner here after reading the reviews, was disappointed! Didn’t find the staff friendly, felt ignored, food was just ok…….nice location.

Just had our 42nd anniversary meal here. Food was superb, service excellent. Can totally recommend La Grange de Tom. Also fantastic views.
