Listen, I know that you can see by my reviews that I can be critical. But when I spend $150 on a meal, I would like for it to be good. I didn’t realize that this restaurant was attached to a nursing home. I feel like for the residents of a nursing home, this food is probably OK. But, Outside of a nursing home, this was no bueno. The thing about tomato sauce is, when it’s fresh, it’s never brown. I attached a picture so you can see for yourself, but I was a little confused as to whether this was tomato sauce or barbecue sauce all over the chicken Parmesan. Brown tomato sauce means it’s old. We have been coming to La Grotta for a few years now to celebrate milestones, birthdays, etc. It has always been our go to Italian place and we have always recommended it to people! Tonight, we took my in laws to dinner here for their first time. Our reservation was at 5:30 and I was terribly unimpressed this time. I don’t know what has changed or what has happened to the service but it just was not it. First off, I never got our severs name but I found him to be a bit rude and impatient. This is the worst so called Italian restaurant, I am Italian and this is NOT good at all, service was bad as well just not only the food, I wish we can review this kind of restaurant with negative stars… please change the name to “mediocrity restaurant”.

Do yourself a favor and eat here. This is far and away our favorite Italian spot in Atlanta. It never disappoints with food and service. You can get seating on the patio or bar if things like open table don’t show availability. Just give them a call :

Management was very accommodating, food not up to par at that price point. Service friendly, slow and could not answer basic questions about wine. Served us a wonderful birthday surprise. Dress of other patrons a little surprising?
