La Grotte Italienne

4* for food and value but 3* for servers attitude We 'd booked for 1300 as a couple on a busy Sat lunchtime. Everything taken in order of customers arriving and drinks, menus and orders taken in sequence by the only unsmiling young waitress. Maybe understandable but a few pleasantries would not go amiss (our French is good so no excuses). Food arrived after an hour si ce we arrived. We were OK with that, she apologised and wine was decent as we waited. My pizza was excellent..thin crust. Wife 's special burrata based salad also good. On asking for the bill while presenting a bill at a nearby table I was bluntly told to wait as she was alone etc etc. Was I wrong g to ask right then, was she wrong to dismiss my request??? So 4* food and value. 3* attitude. Would we go again..yes..says it all really

WE ordered a pizza, main ingredient (ham) missing when queried we just got a plate of ham dumped on the table! Waitress apologised however then had to wait 45 minutes to pay! The taste of our incomplete pizza was good but could not recommend it due to the coldness of staffs and total llack of service.

We were a family of 4 and enjoyed dinner on two occasions at La Grotte Italienne when we were in Callas. The restaurant is small and cosy and the food was delicious (especially the spaghetti bolognese)!

Ordered a take out and was disappointed with the size and the topping amount. Normally we use Le Picholine in Figanieres, so much better, but there was a 2 hour wait for them...says it all.

Closed for late lunch (open at 7 p.m. , solid piece of meat (entrecote , nice ice cream. small but pleasant.
