We stopped at La Barra, which is the place preferred by our teacher of Spanish, who comes from Jaén. Indeed, the place does not want to attract tourists: the locals are enough to occupy all the tables and stools which are available (not many . Yet the owner is so nice and found us a place to sit. The atmosphere is truly andalusian and I suspect that the place has not been refurbished for quite some time. It is fine as it is, even with the mens without a basin to wash your hands and just a urinal (the ladies has both a WC and a basin, just in case... . The staff is very nice, as I was saying, the migas (crummed bread, chorizo, pepper, onion and garlic was as excellent as the teacher told us. So it was the sandwich with beef blood.
Vibrant atmosphere, unsual decoration with a collection of antique and old devices that tell the story of the bar and the city. Located very close to the cathedral this is the best bar you could go to experience the local hospitality. Highly professional, quick, fun and varied tasty tapas and dishes all reasonably priced; if you are a tourist in my hometown, I highly recommend visiting. I have been enjoying drinks in this bar for many years and has never ever let me down. It is bursting with locals, always a good sign and if you are a vegetarian, they can provide you with a solution, just let them know from the beginning!
We stopped in Jaén on our way from Granada to Cordoba and had a quick tapa at La Barra. The place is exactly what the name tells you: a bar barra for locals, with a nice atmosphere and nice staff. The miga crummed bread, chorizo, pepper, onion and garlic was excellent. So it was the sandwich with los aves a sort of bird paté . Watch out: mens toilet has just a urinal. For hand washing and other physiological needs you must go to the ladies one.
