La Merced - Réservation de table

La Merced is a small restaurant/bakery chain in Pasto, and a good quick stop for us (twice, actually on an overnight on the way to Ecuador. The bakery is at the front, and smells so wonderful you'll want to walk in just for the aroma. A security guard seemed to also act as a greeter, which was a nice touch. The waiters and other staff are amiable, though not always quick once you've given your order. The menu is extensive, and as a vegetarian I didn't have any problem. In fact, they prepared a vegetarian canzone for me, even though it wasn't on the menu, and it was delicious! That was lunch. We were led here by our hotel and said it was the best place in this part of the city. We enjoyed it. The menu is huge, we have found many local and international possibilities. We had both the cazuela de frijoles (a kind of bean stew) served with rice and avocado. Delicious! Service was excellent.

We ate dinner here on arrival in Pasto. The food was just as good as formal restaurants. This is also a good place for snacks.
