This bar/cafe is unique in managing to stay open throughout the winter in Portiragnes. Thierry is a wonderful, intelligent, host who speaks good English and has a vast knowlege of wines and music. I remember the previous time we visited and offered him some books and he said, with regret, that he simply did not have space to store any more unless people came in and bought them. I would encourage any English speaking visitors to take their books home with them and give them to charities in England. Lumbering him with a load of waste paper does not deserve any gratitude! What we need is regular footfalls - turn up for a coffee or a beer every day...
We attended a really good wine tasting event here today. Two local vignerons with a total of fourteen different wines to try and an excellent presentation by the two producers of the attributes and origins of all their various products. All the wines were excellent and reasonably priced, there was delicious food in the usual Part de l'Ange style of charcuterie, cheeses and bruschettas and a very pleasant atmosphere. There was a really good turn-out and everyone seemed to have a good time.
Je n'ai pas mangé de nourriture, mais un groupe d'amis et moi avons profité de l'hospitalité du propriétaire à deux reprises : une bonne matinée et une excellente soirée à boire de la bière et du vin dans un bar avec une ambiance fantastique et un paradis pour les amateurs de vin avec une superbe sélection de vins. J'ai adoré l'endroit. Le bar est équipé d'une bibliothèque, ce qui est une excellente idée de la part du propriétaire, qui est également journaliste.
Super bar avec de bons vins et de la bonne bière. Des événements réguliers de musique, de littérature, de sport et de dégustation de vin. Le sympathique propriétaire du bar parle anglais si nécessaire et vend du vin de qualité locale en bouteille. Des planches de charcuterie et de fromage / bruschetta à déguster en buvant. Un endroit charmant pour passer la soirée ou pour venir boire un verre rapidement.

This place really is the heart of Portiragnes Village; if you want good wine, good beer, a delicious snack, good company or on special nights good entertainment, then you've found the right place. Thierry is a fabulous host; he is multi lingual, he's a wine sommelier and runs a great pub.
Never do reviews, so this is an exception... Charming atmosphere, laid back host. Normal bar fair, and then this interesting collection of traditional method, organic, or natural wines of many and varied forms. Occasional nights of music, guest speakers and wine tasting.
Over the years - we live here and have visited for coffee with friends, for wine with friends and even a St Patrick's Day with friends. I have bought English books here. I have given 150 English books here to be sold on with no thanks - hate this bar!!!
This is real small spot, on a Rue that has no parking. But the host is great, many choices of wine to take away. And they have a library of used books a ll 2 euros. Many in English .I think it is usually open afternoon and evenings.
