We were passing through the area and decided to try the tacos here out of curiosity. Honestly, we didn’t see this coming! They have their al pastor prominently displayed in the prep area, which is the first thing you notice when you walk into this cozy little spot—what a brilliant touch! Be sure to try the shrimp tacos de plancha and the tacos de volcán if you’re feeling adventurous. As a self-proclaimed taco de lengua critic (lol), I can say that theirs quickly made it into my top three lengua options! This restaurant offers the best taco selection I've encountered in a long time at any Mexican eatery. The prices are reasonable, and there’s plenty of outdoor seating, making it a safe choice for dining during the pandemic. The staff was friendly, even with a heavy load of orders to manage. Although our wait was a bit longer than we anticipated—likely due to a surge in online orders—it was still quite reasonable. The wait was definitely worthwhile as the food was both delicious and perfectly prepared. A few of our tacos could have used a bit more salt, but the salsa made up for it. The plantains were fantastic as well. I highly recommend the bacon-wrapped shrimp tacos; they were excellent!
Pretty cool little taco joint! (It's small enough that I feel comfortable calling it a joint. Mostly just either tacos or burritos, as their mainstay, but they have drinks (GRAPEFRUIT JARRITOS and chips and whatnot. Tacos are awesome, and not too expensive per. Their asada is very good, the al pastor is really good, and the plancha shrimp are just crazy. They can have a little problem with timing, since there's only two or three folks holding back the multitudes, but they are getting a lot better at it, since then. If you happen to want a good taco, and happen to be in Highwood, give these guys a go!
Very Very Very good!! I was at the light after leaving the festival. I tried it at the festival and didn’t know they had a location. I took a picture of the place while at the light. I think the officer thought I was taking it of him standing in front. He was saying something but God didn’t think I should hear it. I just know it was rude. I was trying to tell him I was taking it of the the place!! I will be back but will probably get arrested lol. But it’s so worth it.
The food here is incredibly fresh and healthy. The owner is friendly, and I appreciate supporting kind people. The meals are some of the best you'll ever taste, all at affordable prices. The atmosphere is lovely, set in a vibrant city that feels like a Hollywood movie set. It's a pleasant drive to Highwood, and the city itself is full of color and charm.
The Mexican food here is just average, but the prices are reasonable. The Al Pastor is definitely the standout dish. However, the basic beef and steak fillings are only okay, lacking the bold flavors I was hoping for. Overall, the spices don't pack the punch I was looking for.
