Yesterday my husband and I took our guest to St Tropez and our favourite restaurant La Sardine. We have been going to that place for the last twenty year and always enjoyed the excellent food and pleasant service Unfortunately ....there had been a change of ownership and all was changed... my husband fish was so hard it was impossible to cut it... he complained and that was changed for another dish which was fine. We had also ordered a bottle of rose de Provence. The wine was alright but when we asked for the bill we found that they had priced it for € 65.00...... a rose de Provence!!!!! We thought it might have been a mistake on the bill but we're told that ..... New management.... New pric...

My wife and I took a friend to St Tropez for the day from our home in the Var. I have always looked forward to the excellent Moules Marinieres and my wife loves the sardines (naturally). There has been a change of ownership recently. There were no Moules and no sardines. My wife took a steak and I ordered “Fish and chips” a la Sardine. We also asked for a bottle of Provençal rose. We have always taken their local rose without checking the wine list trusting their choice. The fish was like pieces of rock, so hard it was uneatable. They took it away and replaced the dish with sea bream, which was very good. At the end of the meal we received the bill that included our rose priced at 65 euros....

We ate 3 different mains: maison burger, sardines and pasta vongole. Burger is priced at 25€. Way too expensive because the burger is way too basic, buns are what you get for 1€ at a Spar, beef fell apart. Sardine dish still makes me laugh, 5 teeny tiny sardines and mashed potato mashed to death. Atleast the pasta vongole had nicely cooked mussels. We didn't have it but also 12€ for a milkshake is quite ridiculous.

The ambience was lovely and the staff were friendly. The decor was nothing special but we decided to sit outside because there was a plastic sheet blocking the view if you sat inside. I had the pesto pasta which was a very generous portion, the sauce was delicious and not any old pesto sauce. Great place for dinner but pricy.
