La Table De Mestre

This is industrial food served buffet style. It was absolutely inedible. When you finish serving yourself the appetizer from the buffet (a smorgasbord of salad dishes and pates that taste like they came out of cans), you bring your own plate to the kitchen. Then they serve you the main dish (which in our case was a small, greasy chicken leg with some cous cous). Then you bring your plate back to the kitchen again and are given a new plate for sweets and cheeses (the best food on offer). Our bill for 4 people was several hundred euros what I would expect to pay in a nice Paris restaurant! We couldn't believe how bad it was.

The charming hotel of the same name is comprehensively let down by its in-house but independent) restaurant, now labelled as La Table de Mestre. While the dishes in its 3-choice, 3-course menu €32) are flavoursome, if small portions, and well presented, the wine by the glass, €7-€9) is very poor and the service is absolutely glacial. Bring a good book. And if you don’t have one, you will have plenty of time to write one. Avoid at all costs.

What an experience! This is what you’d call „La douce France“! An absolute offsite paradise! Peace, quiet, a lovely garden where you can have a hearty dinner, nicely renovated rooms, a beautiful indoor swimming pool, warm and authentic hosts. We thought they could charge more. Definitely will be back!

Great French cooking at a good price (23 euros). Plenty of hors d’oeuvres at the buffet, a delicious main course and a choice of desserts (or you can have them all as I did no extra charge. Service was prompt. We’ll have to go on a diet when we get home.

had a nice, delicious diner on the outside terrasse, with white linnen tablecloth an good meal, lovely cheeses. Good service!
