"We had a lovely meal at La Taverne. We arrived a little bit early for the French but we were welcome. We enjoyed a very good rosé d’Anjou and very fresh pizza’s and tagliatelle. We all very much liked it! The hostess was helpful and even spoke Some English. We highly recommend this restaurant!"

Some of our friends commented that this place served good food, and after a little hesitation, I and my family decided to try out this little restaurant. The outside was bright, the newly-repainted magenta walls gleaming. As we entered, I was pleasantly surprised at the atmosphere. The music gently played out the speakers, and we were literally the only customers there – for a while (however that may have had something to do with the fact we came on a thursday night). After choosing our dishes, we waited for about 8-15 minutes, and our pizzas were served. I had chosen the Quattro pizza, the four cheese one. The base was nice and light, and the cheeses were generously spread on the plate-size...

Ne vous laissez pas décourager par la couleur inhabituelle violet/rose du bâtiment, probablement destinée à ce que vous ne puissiez pas le rater près d'un rond-point sur la route d'Auray à Pontivy. Nous avons roulé devant depuis des années, toujours pressés mais toujours remarqué. Alors nous voilà, nous l'avons fait et avons été agréablement surpris par l'intérieur chaleureux, incluant même une cheminée (début janvier, peut-être pas en août). Pour moi, l'entrée était une simple mais bonne salade de tomates Mozzarella. Suivi d'un rôti de porc. La Duchesse avait une saucisse bretonne rôtie comme plat principal qui était excellente. Mon dessert était des bananes grillées avec une sauce caramel...
The lunch menu that we had was uninspired and overpriced compared to the good value available nearby. The biggest issue, however, was the lack of interest in customers at the tables. Not only was the service slow and erratic but the layout of the restaurant was very poor, with tables and pot plants blocking access ways for customers and staff alike. There was a queue of customers waiting to pay at the bar which meant that the focus was entirely on them and not those still eating. A shame as the location is good with plentiful parking and tables available in the garden for those wanting to dine alfresco.

Unmissable-it's painted that shade of lilac/mauve one gets when cream and blackcurrants are stirred together! On the outskirts of Baud, by a road, but with a shady garden for hot summer days as well as an attractive interior, La Taverne is run by husband and wife team Titi and Jojo. Jojo is front of house, Titi cooks. The food is excellent: good French cooking, and Titi makes a mean pizza, too. Jojo speaks good restaurant English and our welcome there is always warm and friendly. Chips don't appear on the menu for grownups but just ask if you want some with your steak!
La Taverne est l'un de nos restaurants locaux préférés, même avec sa nouvelle façade violette néon! Nous venons ici depuis de nombreuses années, mais depuis notre déménagement dans la région, nous passons moins souvent devant. C'était un plaisir de revenir il y a quelques jours et de découvrir son nouveau menu trois plats à 18,50 euros, qui nous était inconnu. La qualité de la cuisine et de la présentation par les chefs propriétaires, un couple, reste constamment élevée et l'accueil est toujours aussi chaleureux.
Don't be put off by the unusual purple/pink colour of the building, probably intended so that you can't miss it near a roundabout on the road from Auray to Pontivy. We have been driving past it for years, always in a hurry but always noticed it. So here we are,we've done it and were nicely surprised by the warm interior, even including a log fire (early January, maybe not in August). Starter for me was a simple but good Mozzarella
Nous avons mangé dehors sous les arbres, il ne faisait pas du tout froid. Nous avons tous les deux pris le menu à 25 € qui nous donnait accès à un repas de 3 plats avec un choix complet. La présentation des plats était excellente, nos compliments au chef. Le personnel était très agréable et servait aux tables. Une bonne trouvaille entre Baud et Camors. Je le recommande vivement.
